My daughter just left for basic training on Tuesday. I haven't heard from her yet. :( When she arrived in Great Lakes she was allowed to call however she called her boyfriend. He did not contact us that she was okay. I'm so worried that graduation information is going to go to him rather than us. Has anyone experienced this? How do I handle it? We are close as mom and daughter but the boyfriend is trying to keep us away.

Been awhile since I wrote anything but I have to brag a little. Our son got his promotion to MM1 and will be heading back to the southeast and a different boat this fall.

I am so new to this life that some days all I can do is cry. My sailor starts boot camp in December. I guess I am just so frustrated because I know nothing and I am not sure where to begin. That, and we are both only 18. We're still kids. Yet here we are getting married in October and preparing for a life of moving and waiting. On top of that, I have to balance college.
My sailor didn't tell me he was considering the Navy until we were already engaged. All I did that whole day…

As of today 7/24/12 my daughter has been gone to boot camp for 4 weeks. So far one call ( the arrival ) and a few quick words in the back of her form letter. I continue to write every week to uplift her in case she's having a hard time. I have seen so many parents talk about letters and phone calls. I run to the mail everyday hoping to receive just one letter. I miss my kid so much. Any one else with a loved one in the same division ship 09 division 266. I know she's ok. Just wanna hear her…

BFF and I were working out tonight....looked over to her and said 12 more days. She smiled and said it will be okay. Then she added BC won't be that long and you'll see him.
The next word shocked even me....I said but he won't ever live with me again full time....I'll never get my baby back the way I have him for the next 12 days. We smiled and…

Four weeks ago today, my boyfriend left for basic training in Great Lakes. The first two weeks really, really sucked. Towards the third week, I was starting to realize that I was basically ostracizing myself from the outside world and I wasn't going out with friends anymore. I just recently started spending more time with my old friends, but I think it was only because I finally started receiving letters from my boyfriend a week ago. I really just want some advice on how to handle…

My son woke up early (as trying to get into the habit since he is normally a night owl) and once I got up...he rolled his computer chair into my room and we began our talk. First we were reviewing all the items he needs to know before he leaves for BC....then it turned into talking about family and how each one will be missed....then we talked about the vehicles and clothes....then we talked about his future and where he sees himself in a year, two, 10 years down the road. He shared with…

We are 20 days away from our Son leaving for BC. He leaves Aug. 14, I thought I was ok, but as the date gets closer I find myself tearing up just thinking about it. We are so proud of him and I know he will be fine, I dont really know what is wrong with me. Just trying to take it all in. Trying to make sure everything is done, but scared we are forgetting something or need to be doing more...

All,
I'm not sure if any of you moms have a daughter that is/was breast feeding before boot camp. However,
this is a post that I just got on my web forum (NavyDEP.com) from a depper and need some help answering this question:

Heard from my SR on Wednesday. Today is Sunday. SO happy to hear from him, and so unreasonably jealous and selfish to hafta share him with the rest of the family. Thru this N4m site I've learned lots, and it was annoying to hear hubby, our dtr and son all asking him questions I coulda answered, when I had so much to ask him and so much time I wanted to give to HIM to tell us what…

Hi all!! Again it’s been awhile since my last post but I can't help it I've learned to stretch myself ALOT lol. I worked in the hospital lab and I decided I wanted something a lot faster paced so next month I'm going back to school for EMT plus I have my part time exotic edibles business. The 20th marked a month since the ship left but my days seem to fly by…
