My Son

My oldest son (19) left yesterday for BC in Illinois.  I am a wreck.  Did nothing but cry yesterday.

I have another son age 17 who has one more year in Tech School.  Please can someone put my

mind at ease about what goes on there.  I here many diff things.  I sometimes don't think I will

be able to do this waiting without crying everyday.  I am very proud of him, believe me.  His dad

passed away in 2011 and I know he misses him very much and would have loved for…

HI LIZ'S MOM

I TOO UNDERSTAND YOUR FRUSTRATION. MY SON WENT TO BC 12/05/12. THEY DISCHARGED HIM WITH ERRONEOUS ENTRY- HAVING ADD. WHILE THERE HE WAS TOLD IN 6 MONTHS HE COULD RE-ENLIST. HE WENT BACK TO HIS RECRUITER YESTERDAY AND I UNDERSTAND HIM TO SAY HE HAS TO GO TO ANOTHER RECRUITING OFFICE FOR PEOPLE WHO WERE DISCHARGED AND WOULD ONLY BE ABLE--HOWEVER SLIM CHANCE--TO GO BACK IN RESERVES. NAVY IS HIS PASSION. HE REALLY WANTS A SECOND CHANCE--ANY SUGGESTIONS..PLEASE...

Diversity in Experiences

I have been very surprised by the diversity of the experiences of all that comment and post to the site.  Some have had only positive experiences, some have had challenges and others have a horror story or two to tell.  What I am not surprised about is the fact that no one seems to judge others.  They pull together and try to help, to explain and to comfort.  This feeling of community and caring about each other is what I missed after moving out of the little town I grew up in to a much…

First Phone Call

Got that first phone call from my SR on Saturday morning.  Took the phone in so her brother and sister could talk to her first.  Waiting and being able to share that precious little time is so hard but since her other sister and brother never even got to talk with her I am greatful for the time that we did get.

She is on Ship 14 Div 335 and is set to have PIR on September 6, 2013.  Now if we can just get all of us there even though only 4 people can actually go to the graduation. …

Half Way to PIR 8/23

I've lost count of the letters & cards I've written to my Sr. Countless thought continue to flood my mind.  I find myself continuously jotting down notes to write in my letters.  Just think, we're half-way to PIR day.  What a Grand and Glorious Day that will be.  I can hardly wait to share those magical moments in time with my Sr.  Moments to treasure for a lifetime.

I read a post that said if your SR is in the performing division that means they will not participate in the entire ceremony? Does anyone have information on this?  Thanks, Karen
