PIR Octobr 7th -

We're new to the Navy, our son arrived at GL on August 9th.  PIR is set for October 7th!  We got the form letter and his four lines at the bottom were full of excitement, it was the best - just wait until I get a whole letter!  Love to chat with another recruit's family.  Our transition was way easier than any of us anticipated!

RE: A SCHOOL

My daughter is now in boot camp up in the Great Lakes, after that she will be in Mississippi for A school.

Can anyone tell me if I stay at a hotel near the base, will I be able to spend time with my daughter on a weekend?  I know this is considered their free time, but not sure if I should book a room if she is not allowed to leave the compound.

Thanks

Short on travel funds

My daughter graduates 9/30/11. I moved the same time she went to boot camp. Im a single mom, trying to get a job to survive. I have been listening to how much room cost a night are. The rates seem decent but its still allot of money to come up with on my budget or her boyfriends budget. In this economy i know im not the only one. I live close enough i can drive there. What options are available for moms or dads like me?

Deployment. The Good. The Bad. The...Beauty...

Hey N4M,

I haven't written in a while. I have been so caught up in life lately I have hardly had time to think straight. So here is a little catch up. My husband is now on deployment, (our first one) and it has been one hell of a ride and we are not even through the first half! There has been so many changes in myself and in my husband that we have been noticing everytime we talk. Of course deployment SUCKS, we all know that. And there has been a few tiffs that always seem…

3rd Letter today..

My SR seems to be doing pretty good out there in GL. He's got 28 days to go i believe thank goodness! But in his latest letter to me he said during his latest physical they discovered a hernia and is getting surgery immediately after boot camp, and will be residing there under recovering for an additional 6 weeks before he  can actually go to South Carolina. Now, I know that he'll be in good hands out there..but i'm so worried about him. He'll…

August 19th, 2011

Today Robert graduated basic training!! It was so good to see him and I was smiling all day!! We took him to Taco Bell for lunch since he has been craving it, haha. Then we all went to the lake, took some pictures, and went out to a REALLY nice restaurant! I also got a Navy sweatshirt from the NEX and it's sooo comfy :) I'm headed to bed now so we can get up early to pick up Robert from the base and have one more day with him!!

<3

I am so proud of him!
