Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Abbreviations

I am new to this site (and new to the Navy in general), my son is not actually enlisted he is planning to apply in April for the NROTC scholarship at the University of Oklahoma. My question is: is there anywhere that I can find out what all the appreviations mean used in many of the blogs? Thanks in advance for the help.

waiting for that first letter

Our son left Monday July 27th and arrived at Great Lakes Tuesday the 28th. He called that night  to say he arrived safely. That Thursday we received his clothes he wore there. Now we are anxiously waiting for that first letter. Do not know what division he is in or ship. I check the mail everyday waiting for that first  letter. My 9 year old daughter wrote him a letter last week and wanting to ssend it.     …

Something to think about when sending Goodies....

My son is currently in C school and i try to send him home made yummy goodies...We were discussing what kind and i was going to make him Muddy Buddies and told him what was in it and he said NO mom i have two shipmates that are allergic to Peanuts! So I have made a note to put on fridge as a friendly reminder to myself so I don't harm my son's shipmates...So when your making your goodies and you know they are sharing you might ask if they have any shipmates that have food allergies....…

2sd Son off 2 bootcamp..

So Ive survived my 1st bootcamp A school and deployment with my oldest son... Yesterday my youngest and last son shipped to bootcamp. Not as stressed this time because I knpw what to expect and how 2 plan for it.. The question is his expected graduation day going 2 be Sep 26th or Oct 3rd.

San Francisco! San Francisco! San Francisco!

In a couple of months, me and my husband going to SAN FRANCISCO!!!!  We're going for Fleet Week! YAY!!!!  Something I always wanted to do, a event I always wanted to go to!  I surprised my son because he never knew I wanted to go to Fleet Week.  He said, "Mom, I never knew you wanted to go to Fleet Week?"  Yes, Mama always wanted to go since I been 18.  Now, we need to find a reasonable hotel to stay at.  I'm so excited!!!!  YAY!!!!!! The best part of the trip: seeing my son!!!

Am I the Only Excited Mom? Why are There So Many Sad Moms??

On every site related to our recruits, I see post after post of parents who are so sad about their child being in boot camp.  I'm very close to my son but I'm beginning to feel abnormal.  It is hard not to be able to talk to him any time I want but I am so proud of what he is doing so it's hard to be sad.  I am so happy that he has made good decisions for his future and is creating a valuable life for himself.  Sure, I hang up the phone and cry when I do get those rare phone calls but what…

Concerns about going on a cruise when on leave!

My sailor is going to go on leave and we want to plan a short cruise to Baja Mexico and Catalina island. I've been hearing mixed responses from friends that my sailor is not allowed to "leave the country." Does anyone know any info about this? It would be very helpful!
