Just found out my son is going to Japan!

My son text me early this morning and said that his orders he picked for Japan came through. I am so very happy for him!! I don't know if he will be on ship or land as of yet as he said he would call me later in the day to tell me everything. I know he really wanted to get on a ship so I hope that is what he got. He is currently stationed near our home so this will be a new experience for me not having him close by. Luckily, I still have several more months before he travels on to…

2013 March Shippers

Hey everyone,

my daughter just made a group on facebook for all 2013 March Shippers. If your sons or daughters happen to have a March ship date, have them join the group. She was in an October shippers group when her ship date was originally in October and has found it to be very helpful and supportive. So don't be shy!

SUNDAY.... 6 Days in..

Well, today was a bit hard, harder than some of the others. I got up and went to curch today and everybody was hugging me and asking if I was holding up ok and if I had heard from him. I smiled and said yes I am good I know he is in good hands! But, wow it makes it hard when everyone asks over and over if you have heard from him. Especially since that is the hardest part for me. Not talking to him. I hve all my letters ready to mail tomorrow. I know he won't get them for at least another…

Glassy eyes...

Forgive me if you've ever had a burden and I just stared with glassy eyes. I truly had no idea. From this day on, I will try to be more considerate of other's feelings.

It's been a week since we heard from our son...a week of wondering whether or not he is FFD and in another division...a week of waiting for the phone to ring (just in case)...a week of emotional ups and downs.

Here is the problem: everyone around me seems sick to death of hearing about Justin, or at least that's…

Jealous of son's girlfriend :)

Josh graduated on August 24th and is currently in A school @ Great Lakes. Thankfully, that isn't too far from us (about 5 hours) but with work, bills, etc., we haven't been able to go back to see him since graduation. While it has been SO NICE being able to talk to him on the phone, I would absolutely LOVE to see him.

His girlfriend (the little bugger) is on her way there now and gets to see him tonight. :)   I am thrilled for them and not really jealous of her (hehe); just wish that…

Dreading next week

Hi everyone,

I am new to this & just need some encourging words as my son leaves next Wed. Sept 26 for boot camp & I am dreading it.  Even, as I write this tears are coming to my eyes.  I just wish it were a year from now & all this would be behind us.  I know I have to stay positive for my son, but it is so hard knowing in a week he will no longer be around after having him at home 24/7 for his entire 23 years!

Military Mother

When the good Lord was creating mothers, he was into his fifth day of overtime. An angel appeared and said, “You’re having a lot of trouble with this one. Why not use the standard model?”

And the Lord replied, “Have you seen the specifications on this order? Give birth to a child that will become one of my warriors; install values of duty, honor, and country into them from birth while teaching them to be compassionate and loving; safeguard this treasure through flu, sickness,…

HE MADE IT.. HE HAS OFFICIALLY STARTED BOOTCAMP 9/18

My son was scheduled to be picked up at 1P on Mon 9/17 so I took him,  his brothers & sisters & my grandson to take one last family photo our appt. was at 11:15A, eac of the kids wanted a photo alone with him. Watching him swear in was so awesome.. & watching him get in that cab to go off to the airport was even harder. Had to be strong for him. He was very anxious to get this new…

Military Mom

A friend of mine sent this to me yesterday just wanted to share :

What's in the heart of a military mom?  The ability to let your child walk out the door with the recruiter.  The patience to wait for a letter or call from BC.  The pride in seeing that first military uniform picture.  The excitement of that first leave.  The strength to face the unknown.  The courage to send your child into battle.  The love in her heart for her child and her country, and the friendship in finding…
