I'm wondering if anybody has their son/daughter graduating on the 7th of November?

Am I the only mom who isn't happy?

My son will be leaving soon and I am finding it difficult to say the word Navy.

I am not proud of his choice to drop out of college to join the Navy. I am not looking forward to getting letters of this broken sprit and gradually receiving letter after he regains self esteem.

I think basic training is cruel and emotional abuse so they can tear them down to built them back up again. I don't understand it.

My sons father was in the military when we married and had… Continue

Missing my son!

I just left my Son at MEPS on Tuesday, September 16th. Watched him swear in, and then kiss me goodbye to go sign his contract. I received his belongings in the mail last Friday. That made it apparent he is really there. I a Happy for him but at the same time miss him like crazy and hope that he is doing well. The unknown is what kills me the most. I am positive I am not the only Mom who has had these feelings.. Anyone have some ideas on how to get through this 8-9 weeks of Boot… Continue

My tears have stopped.....

When my son informed me he was joining the navy, actually he had his dad tell me , (he calls him his filter) I will be honest I was devastated. I had such mixed emotions. I was scared for him, sad for me that he was leaving home and not under my watch anymore, (Italian mom here) and that I won't be able to talk to him or see him when I want to. He originally wasn't to leave until December at the time it gave me six months to get use to it. I was planning everything out doing the holidays early,… Continue

I can write my son now.

My son left for boot on Sept 15. I received his box on Wednesday. I was so excited and nervous when I opened it. Already knew what was inside but I was still overwelmed with emotion. And today I received the form letter. So excited cause know I have an address where I can write him. PRI is November 7, cant wait.

PO3 testing

Does anyone know how long after the PO3 test is taken does it take to get the results? Do they post a list or tell the sailors individually?

Boot camp arrival

Well yesterday my son left for bc. Saying goodbye was one of the hardest things I've had to do. It feels like a piece of my heart is missing. He is my oldest boy and I have two younger boys. I cried so hard as I gave him one last hug. I was disappointed to be told as he was leaving the meps office to be transported to the airport that we were not to follow him to the airport. That even though his flight wouldn't be for several hours he  would be going through both check in points as soon as…

Recent Graduation 9/12/2014

Just alittle heads up for those making upcoming travel plans for Navy graduation. I would not recommend the Ramada Inn in Waukegan. I was put in room 157 an as I walked down the hall it look like I was in a basement. The carpet in the hall was extremenly dirty and the hall smelled like a dirty cat litter box. When I open the door to my room, which took a minute cause the key wouldn't work, The smell smacked me in the face. It smelled liked a…

One week gone by already

Well its been one week that my son left for boot camp and not a day goes by me missing him. I received his box yesterday and was hesitant to open it but I was able to get the courage and did it. And as I expected I broke down, I held his belongings tight to me and was smelling them remembering of him when he was a baby that I held so tightly in my arms. I've wrote to him everyday that he has been gone. And we're counting down the days until his call to hear his voice. I'm sure and hoping this… Continue

Ship 13 Div 351

My son arrived at BC from NY on 09/09/14 and we just received the letter .. yahoo!  My husband ran to the post office with our letters and we are notifying friends and family of his address. My husband missed the FedEx truck so he was a little disappointed but he signed the delivery note for tomorrow. I'm currently traveling on business so I appreciate this site and everyone sharing their thoughts and experience.  I'm so afraid I'll miss that first phone call that I have my cell phone on the…

USS America Commissioning Ceremony

I'm so excited about USS America Commissioning Ceremony, October 11th!  My husband and I received our invitations, and RSVP! So we're ready to go!!!  I can't wait!  I'm real excited about this opportunity!  In my previous blog, I mentioned how I always wanted to go to Fleet Week.  My son never knew about it until he mentioned the commissioning ceremony.  My son has been on his ship since April.  I communicated with him here and there.  The last time I seen my son was when he came home for my…

Packing day

Well the day has finally come for the last of my sons things in his room to be packed up:(  He will be leaving for GL in two days 9/17. I have read so much information to prepare us for this transition in his life. So much that I feel so overwelmed and afraid that I'm gonna forget half of everything to do and say to him. On a good note though......we had a nice going away party for him yesterday with family and friends. He will take these memories with him and it will help him to keep strong…

Leaves for MEPS ~ September 15th 2015

Today my 17 year old soon to be sailor Bradley leaves after school with his best friend and a couple others to Columbus for MEPS.

Last night he was tearing apart everything looking for his wallet that has his drivers license.  At this moment I still have no idea if he found it. We may be going to the license bureau later. On a funny note, the NAVY certainly has there work cut out for them refining, reshaping my son.

I have cried more this past week then I can recall.  And…

Always something to worry about right? My SR's PIR is scheduled for 9/26, which means this week he will taking tests. If he doesn't pass them he might not be able to even do Battle a Stations. I'm so nervous about this now!
