New Navy Mom

My almost 18 year old son is due to ship out on 3/29/11 and my 21 yr old son is in the process of enlisting after getting his medical clearance from knee surgery. We are very excited and supportive. This site is very informative and gives me a feeling of calm because I know so much more about what is to come.

Miserable:( Anyone have a solider in kuwait!!!??

Hi my name is Allie. My fiance just got to Kuwait today and I'm a mess. He left yesterday morning from a training camp in Ft Dix and I finally got an email from him this afternoon saying he was there and safe. I was so grateful to hear from him because I really thought it would be awhile before he emailed or called or anything. He said that he has a bit more of a ways to travel and once he gets where he is supposed to be going he would check on the internet and everything. I'm trying so hard to… Continue

When should I hear abour PIR? I haven't heard anything yet. I write lots and lots of letters that have nothing to say to him. Mainly because my life is boring. I have been trying to get other people to write him.

week 3

My boyfriend left for bootcamp around 2 weeks ago, coming into the 3rd week. I would like to know when will his contact information come into his recruiter? And since it is now week 3, when will I get a phone call or letter?

Date change

My son was supposed to leave for BC in March. He recieved a phone call about a job opening, so now he is leaving Tuesday Oct. 12. Wow, I'm excited, that he's excited. But I'm still trying to prepare myself in a matter of days rather than months. I am so proud of him, and comforted in the fact that he is well aware of this decision. I am going to miss him for the next several weeks, and look forward to graduation. I am most grateful for this site. I don't know how I would be taking this…

Gratiful Mom...for child in Navy!

This week I realized that Im am so very happy my daughter made the decision to go into the Navy....instead of College as she had originally planned. I watched the news of a young man who graduated from High School this past year and entered College this September......his mother dropped him off for opening day and 8 days later he was dead. Last seen leaving a late night party......and several days later his body found in the bay!...

I keep thinking how this mother must feel....my…

Awaiting orders, marriage life and learning to live and love together and apart.

My dearest N4M members,

On March 15th my entire world was turned upside down when my, then boyfriend, left for Great Lakes. I know you all know that feeling, or will know it soon. For the last 7 months I have been waiting for my world to return to normal again. Yet I realized today, it won't ever be normal again. My life changed forever the second he walked onto that plane, when I got the "I am a sailor phone call", when he proposed to me on PIR weekend and on September 3rd…

41 days and counting

I just did the counting and we have 41 days left. I'm trying to convince myself that it really isn't all that long but really that IS a rather large number. You would never start a count down to Christmas with 41 days left.

But then I tell myself the worst should be coming to an end...phone calls and letters should start coming.

I also hope that all this… Continue

Day 1

Last text I received from my daughter was lastnight, she was leaving Ohara airport for camp

No news is good news... .my moto. I concentrate on the advantages my daughter has going to bootcamp. She has been in JROTC since she was twelve. We have the program not just in the High schools but junior high. She took to it like a duck to water and for seven years it was an everyday part of life. Every muscle in her body reacts to commands instantly, second nature to her now. Her posture…
