Need Information

I need help finding a motel/hotel near boot camp.  Trying to find a deal with flight/hotel, and shuttle from hotel to graduation.   Funds are limited.  I do not want to miss the graduation - this is a once in lifetime event for my son, and I want him to know how proud I am by being there.  Any information would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Missing My SR!!

My son went to boot camp on 10/4/2011.  I did great.  We took him out to eat the night before; had a great time as a family - at a really good meal (because we knew he wouldn't be eating much after that day!).  Then when we got back to the hotel, we sat in the lobby and visited, took pictures - just mulled around.  It was finally time to say "goodnight" and I told myself not to cry.  He hugged Dad and brother, then turned around and hugged me.  It wasn't an extraordinary hug -- just a normal…

Letter has arrived

When we got home tonight, Dalton's letter was waiting for me.  His PIR Date is Dec 02. He assured me he was OK and that he is looking forward to receiving our letters.  Of course, he had a few lines in there for Emilie (girlfriend) and I called her right away with the message :-)

Very glad to see his handwriting. So now we just need to start making reservations.  Each day that passes is a day sooner that we will see him!

Chaplain Williams, or better known to most as "Fish"

I appreciate All that these young men & women do for our country.... I LOVE MY FREEDOM! Without them, & our forefathers, we wouldn't have the Freedom we have today.

But, I am a little partial to Chaplain "Fish" in the US Navy, he is my youngest son.... It makes me, his mother Prouder just reading some of the things that are said and posted about him. In case anyone wonders how he got the nickname "Fish", well his name is Marlin, like a fish... And Jesus fed a multitude of… Continue

Bootcamp: The First 10 Days

The past couple of weeks have been the most difficult for me.  Sending my youngest daughter off to boot camp turned out to be much more difficult than I ever imagined.  I cried for days.  I kept thinking of her short 15-second phone call letting us know she had made it to GL . . . she was crying which is not at all like her.  It made me worry and constantly wonder what and how she was doing.  She left on Tuesday and arrived at GL on Wednesday.  We got "The Box" the following Monday.  My…

26 Days and Counting!!!

It's 5:30am and I've been awake for about an hour and a half just thinking and then the realization hit me...26 more days and I can see my son. I won't be seeing the boy I left at the hotel the night before he went to boot camp though. I will be seeing the man he has become. It seems like a lifetime ago since I hugged him and told him to take care of himself, but then again it also seems just like yesterday.

I realize that this is just the first phase of him not being around, that…

The POW/MIA Table at every galley and at the Navy Day Ball...

Since the Navy Day Ball was yesterday, I'd thought I'd share this....
(Happy 236th birthday U.S. Navy)

The POW/MIA Table
(This ceremony was part of the Navy Ball, I really liked it and so I am sharing it with you)

You may notice this small table here in a place of honor. It is set for one. This table is our way of symbolizing that members of our profession of arms are…

Waiting - but showing some signs of progress?

My son's recruiter is just as puzzled by the lack of response for his medical waiver!  She has reapplied for it and will be on it and should know within 2 weeks.  I know that's what they said the last time - but I'm encouraged that the recruiter is getting just as aggravated as the rest of us!  So I am happy and most importantly, my son is happier!  We know that there will probably still be quite the wait until boot camp, but it's the not knowing that is the killer!  Thanks for the kind…

And so it begins...kind of...

My son has been telling me for almost two years that he wants to go into a branch of the military.  Coming from a long line of Marines on my side of the family, I thought that was his path.  As high school graduation grew closer, Brian decided he wanted to follow in his other grandfather's footsteps and "go Navy."  Either way, any branch, I'm proud that my son made this decision.  It's definitely not an easy one and he's met some very firm resistance from members of the family, but I hope my…

Natasha Called !!

I received a call from my Daughter and as excited I was to hear her voice, it was'nt a personal call. The navy had her call me for ALOT of back ground information on our family, places we lived, marriage dates, Schools and references. I dont understand why they are asking now, I thought this was all taken care of during the 6 months she was waiting to leave for bootcamp? My poor daughter was crying ( she's homesick ) and stressed out. I felt so bad for her because I know how tough bootcamp is… Continue

Weekend getaway.

We are in Muskegon, Michigan camping on Lake Michigan. Just knowing that my son and all the other recruits are across Lake Michigan makes me feel a little bit closer. Even though Lake Michigan still separates us....just knowing is a bit of relief. It is a tad chilly. I check the weather everyday in Great Lakes just to know what weather they will have to endure. This weekend is going to be windy and rainy.

10.13.2011

Im new to this site, so im still getting used to it and fixing all the tweeks. The reasoning for making this site was mostly made this so i could have support for when Aeron is away or deployed on a mission. I looked around the internet and this was the best Navy support site i could find. It seems like a simple easy way to meet other wives/moms/girlfriends of Navy guys and hear theyre stories. Im young, im only 19 years old..however my life is moving quickly. My boyfriend and i are…

Pensacola Florida

I plan on visiting my kid in Pensacola once she's stationed in Pensacola for A school.  I'm not familiar with the area and am looking at the hotels within the area, does anyone know which hotels are near the Navy school?

Mail Call!

I just graduated from boot camp on June 3rd. I was hoping to share a little info with the mom's here. The mail that you send them the first week won't be read until their RDC's allow them to receive it. Most likely close to the end of week 1. They also aren't allowed to send out mail except for Sunday's. That doesn't start until the weekend of week one which should be the 23rd of this month. Once they are allowed to receive mail they can get it and read it EVERYDAY! So… Continue
