Got My First Letter

I am all excited! I received my letter from my son. It was very short, but it was wonderful to read. He is in on Ship 04 Division 020 with a graduation of 12/16. Got the address to write him a letter. Does anyone know why he can only have 4 guest at the graduation?

Driving Priviledges

Good morning - I was reading the rules for after basic graduation and one of those is the recruit cannot drive. Can you tell me how long this rule is in effect. Is she able to drive after she gets her permanent station orders?
Thank you for the information.

Realization hits hard...

So, K's grandmother sent her a present for her birthday (tomorrow - yes, Halloween).  It is the cutest stuffed bear dressed in a sailor suit and sings "Anchor's Aweigh."   When she played it, K realized that in less than 3 months her entire life is going to change and that she will no longer call the only home she has known for 20 years "home."  It was quite a shock for her.  She is still excited - not…

Missing my boy

We had anticipated the day Jesse would depart for many months since he made the decision to join so many months ago.  While at first I was very nervous, after meeting with the recruiter and asking my own set of questions it seemed like a positive path overall.  Prior to his decision to go, he knew what he enjoyed doing but wasn't really passionate about any career path and his direction after H.S. was vague.  When he made the decision to join I saw a passion, vision and purpose ignite in him…

Finally, first phone call!

My husband's cell phone rang about an hour ago with a number that he didn't recognized and he almost didn't answer it, but then he did! I looked at him funny until he said "hi buddy", then I started crying because I knew it was our son. My husband said to my son that he better hand the phone over to me first. I was trying to not cry because I wanted it to be a very positive call. I just started asking my son questions so he could talk and I could get better under control. It was great to…

Box in the mail

Our son left on the 24th to Great Lakes and it was the hardest thing to do! He is our oldest and just graduated from high school. He called from the airport on his way out...tears :( Then, yesterday we got the box with his belongings. So, i guess now wait on the letter and phone call. Don't really know what to expect.

What a relief!

It is amazing the relief I feel in having received our first letter from our SR--to know that he is safe and doing well.  Even hearing about his daily routine helps me to feel connected to him once again.  I know all of you will soon get letters and feel that same sense of relief.

Almost!!!!

My son was called by his recruiter on Friday that she had heard about his medical waiver.  Apparently it's being reviewed now and they needed his file sent to them (for the 3rd time) and he should know by the end of this week!  I sure hope so!  Of course, then it's a wait to get back to MEPS and pick a job (if there are any available) and then the wait for BC.  So our waiting is not over with yet - but....at least we know that the NAVY is looking at his case now!

Grandma received a letter!

My mother-in-law called my husband today to ask if we had received a letter from our son. No letter here, but she told him she got one today. She also told him not to tell me because she was worried I would get upset that she got one first. He told me anyway lol. I am not upset, I know our mail is slower than the lower 48. I am really glad she got a letter! Now I know he is ok! Waiting for mine...............:-)

Tearful Phone Call

Tears of Joy!  My beautiful daughter called tonight.  I screamed when I heard her voice.  I put her on speaker phone - then my cell phone's battery died!  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?  My phone decided to quit on me on the phone call that I have been longing for!  Thank goodness she called again to her Daddy's phone.  I had a good 6 minutes to talk. She was tearful because she misses us and her dog!  I was scared for a moment that something was Seriously wrong.  What a great night...and there were 3…

Day of Departure

My son shipped from Arizona yesterday to Great Lakes IL. I am a new Navy mom and very sad to have seen him go. I know he is doing something great for himself and our country, but it is hard to think of that as your watching your baby walk down the airport towards his gate. I did hear from him yesterday when he landed and he said he can call again in about 3 weeks. I read on this site about a kid in a box. I did not know about that and probably would have freaked out to open a box with all his… Continue

Divisions from RTC FB page

I was playing around on the Recruit Training Center Facebook Page today and found that on the sidebar there is a Discussion tab.... lots and lots of people who may not know anything about N4M site.  Kind of sad that there were 2 full on discussions for each Division, one N4M and one RTC..... anyway, I hope some of them will find their way to our site.  For the ones I left messages for, here is the 11/4 PIR group

Going Away Party

Well, I guess there's no denying the fact that he is actually leaving anymore... We had his going away party this past weekend and it was AWESOME to see so many people that we know and love there supporting him full-heartedly in his future endeavors.

So now we can check "have going away party" off of our to-do list before he leaves, along with "get pictures taken" and "take care of financial matters". Now if only he would work on "lose weight", we'd be golden. I'm worried that he will…
