OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Sailor Quote Sunday

"And a sailor you must be if you're going to try ocean voyaging. You'll need a modicum of sailing aptitude, some grasp of mechanical concepts, and a willingness to pitch in and work. Most veteran world sailors fall into the classification of restless adventurers who are always looking at distant horizons."

Adopted a Sailor

Hi,

Has anyone out there heard about Adopted a Sailor? Does anyone have a web site to learn more information about this. My son was telling me about this and I went on line and could not find the web site. I live very close to Great Lakes and would love to help out with some of the men and women who can not get home during the holidays, let me know!

Thanks,
Debbie

The Difference Between the Air Force and the Navy

In the Air Force, if it isn't written you can do something, then you can't. In the Navy, if it isn't written that you can't, then you can.

A great gift to give...

red cross Pictures, Images and Photos

As the holiday season approaches us, the need for blood donation always increases. Perhaps one of the best gifts we can give this year is to donate blood.

To learn more blood donation opportunities, visit www.givelife.org or

call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (1-800-448-3543).

We all expect blood to be there for us, but barely a fraction of those who can give do. Yet sooner or later,… Continue

Who do you fight with for the wishbone?

thanksgiving or happy thanksgiving Pictures, Images and Photos

Yes, the reality of our sailor not being home for Thanksgiving hit our daughter today. She wanted to know WHO she was going to fight with on the wishbone? Our son and daughter enjoyed this tradition for years, so do we save the wishbone until he returns home again…

So Friday came and my daughter came in from school and I thought we would have a pretty good weekend and then Friday night a box came, we were trying to figure out what we had ordered,… Continue

Navy Moms Are A Good Luck Charm??

I am beginning to think that Navy Moms and/or sailors bring good luck to any sporting events they attend. I have attended a NY Rangers hockey game and a NY Knicks basketball game and both times, the NY team won! There were several NavyForMoms members and sailors in attendance at each. Below is a link to an article about the Knicks' game. Hmmmmmm?????

Any moms helping our sailors on Thanksgiving?

' />

I know there has been some chatter, but I am just confirming... Do we have moms helping our sailors on Turkey Day? If so, how?

If it's not you- but you know of a N4M member that is doing something (serving dinner to them, etc)- I would love to know.

Thank you Mom.

Sailor Quote Sunday

"A powerful Navy we have always regarded as our proper and natural means of defense; and it has always been of defense that we have thought, never of aggression or of conquest. But who shall tell us now what sort of Navy to build? We shall take leave to be strong upon the seas, in the future as in the past; and there will be no thought of offense or provocation in that. Our ships are our natural bulwarks."
