And the holidays begin...

Well the holidays are all about K this year.  She has already put up our XMAS tree (I don't think I've EVER put it up before December 15 and that was early).  She themed it "Navy" which means white lights, all blue ornaments and gold garland.  She has even decreed that all presents that are placed under it have to be wrapped in gold!  What a trip.

Spousal Rights

I signed up on this website because my daughter is married to a sailor.  They were married when he graduated from boot camp and she is pregnant with his child.  He is attending A school and she was all set to join him.  After many delays, he just told her that he did not want her to join him, that he was too young to be a husband and father and they were done.  Naturally, she is heartbroken.  I don't know what to do for her and I don't know what her rights are.  He is getting extra pay…

Staying connected

I check my email and face book page multiple times a day. I feel disappointment when there is no activity, but it makes my day when someone has posted. I look forward to whatever someone has wrote no matter what the subject is. Anything makes me feel that much closer to my SR! I just want to take this time to say thank you to everyone for their sharing, you have made my transition into being a Navy mom much easier :-)

the countdown has begun...

Well Dec. 7th is coming up fast....that is when my son leaves for boot camp. Mixed emotions for sure but the number one emotion is pride...in him and for him. His whole new life is in front of him and I am excited for him but at the same time I am sad because he will be gone...for good. He was gone for a year in college but he came home almost every weekend so it was no big deal.Well this is a big deal and he won't be home almost every weekend so mama is a little freaked out. I know he will…

MY SAILOR!

Well a week ago my son PIR'd and I am still on cloud nine about that! It was something so beautiful to see and believe it or not the tears only flowed twice. Once when his division passed where we were sitting and when the National Anthem was played/sang (I always tear up on that one).

We had no trouble getting to the handicapped parking and was offered a wheel chair as soon as I stepped out of the car! Now that is service, LOL. Of course I declined it, I had my cane with my…

This has been a MUCH better week!

Even though Eric leaving was the hardest thing either of us has ever had to deal with, I now realize that this is the best thing that ever could have happened to us. Not only is my baby becoming a member of the best Navy in the world, where they're teaching him respect, discipline, and honor, but this has also inspired me to make some extremely positive changes in my life as well!

In the past two weeks I have already lost 5 pounds, been to the gym every single day, pulled up my grades…

Leaving Today

My 21 year old son left for boot camp today.  I was surprised at the emotions that took over.  I was so proud of him and axious for him to go to the Navy but when the day came, I felt an emptiness that could only be described as a  mother's love.

Travel from TF Green to New London, Ct (Groton) Subase

My daughter is married to a sailor attending A school in Groton and I am trying to help her get there from TF Green airport.  I think the solution is Amtrak from Providence but am posting this in case anyone knows of any other affordable options or if the Navy provides family transport....  Thanks to all.  Being from Houston, we are not that familiar with public transport so this has been a challenge.
