Letters from T

I got my first few letters from Tim today and I wanted to share how he is doing...

He got the Master at Arms position which is a very good thing! Says it comes with a little bit more freedom and he does not have to clean, just has to make sure the other recruits do what they are suppose to.... Said the Chief told the other guys in his DIV that if Tim gives an order it may as well come from him [the chief] and they better listen! He is so excited about that! Says he has made a… Continue

No letter yet?

Hello everyone, new mom here to this site.  Our son left on the 14 of Dec.  He does not want us to write to him until we receive a letter from him.... Everyone on here, it seems, has written to their sons by now and I'm not sure if I should send the letters out or not.  Do they have to read them in front of everyone???  Just wondering?   Any thoughts on if I should send out the letters or should I wait.  Thanks

Down to one hand...

Well, we're down to counting the days till our son leaves on one hand.  I can't believe how close it is.  He enlisted six months ago, and we thought we had so much time with him...huh.  We're so greatful that we could celebrate his 21st birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the new year.  So much kept my mind busy, now I'm afraid that when he's gone, all will be too calm with nothing to occupy my thoughts.  He is so excited to go and begin his new journey.  His focus and drive has kept me… Continue

Insensitive People

Why are there such insensitive people?  Yesterday, I ran into a person who I know (not exactly a friend) and I told him about my son joining the Navy.  He immediately said you know they are going to send him to Afghanistan and hopefully he won't get shot.  I was stunned.  Why would this man say this to a Mom?  I had no idea how to respond, so I just walked off without a response.  I cried all the way home.  When I got home, I called my husband.  He assured me that I had nothing to worry…

I don't want to sit on one side and my daughter is all the way on the other side. How early should we start to line up at the gate that morning, we are going to stay in Deerfield.

who is out there?

Is there any one out there that has a child in ship 12 division 037 that has PIR on 1/7/11? I am so exited to see my daughter I can pee my pants. I'm going to need a depends that day. Any body from Texas? It has been a very long and hard road for me, I cry every day. You know, first child away for a long period of time with out talking to her. We use to talk every day (or text). But soon to be over, at A school she gets to have her cell phone, so that will make me feel better.:)

Is going crazy...

My husband and I just got married in September and soon after he was shipped away to basic training. I've barely heard from him and when I do it feels like I'm more heart broken than when I haven't heard from him. I'm trying so hard to be supportive but I feel like I'm the wife lost and forgotten at home while he's out doing a new adventure. I know in my head and in my heart that he loves me and is doing this more for…

Still Waiting

Well we are still waiting for a phone call or a personal letter.  We did receive our PIR letter a week ago.  She has been gone for two weeks now and I miss her.

Christmas was so sad.  We have never been apart for this long, with no contact.  I miss talking and texting with her.

I keep reading the forums and understand that no news is good news as far as how she is doing.

I went to the mail box today and still no letter…

I'm a wreck!

I'm a wreck and he hasn't even left yet.  And the sad thing is that he probably won't be leaving until June or July.  This whole thing has hit me like a ton of bricks.  He had talked on and off about joining the Navy, but I thought it was just talk because he talked about other options, too.  Then WHAM!  He and his Dad are off to talk to the Recruiter.  I was told "don't worry, we are just getting information."  Next thing I know, he has decided to join the Navy and the ton of bricks have…

New Navy Mom looking for guidance

Hi everyone! I am a new Navy (step) Mom and I am new to all this and am looking for some guidance.  My stepson left for boot camp on December 13th.  I recently managed to get his address of his ship from his recruiter and i will be sending my first letter to him.  I was wondering if there is anything else i can mail to him yet or do i have to wait until after boot camp?  Is he able to make phone calls while in bc?  We still haven't received a call from him.  I would love some friendly advice… Continue

missing my son

I didn't get a call yesterday from my oldest son.  I hope he wasn't too sad on Christmas.  I cant wait until 1-28-11 to see him at his PIR.  My youngest son leaves tomorrow for his A school in Pensacola, it was great having him home for a few days. But its going to be so sad with both if my son's gone. I am so ready for all this basic training to be over!!!!
