do not trust sears to deliver in time for holidays

Just a fyi for all us moms who send our sailors presents through the mail, I went to Sears to buy a gift for my son and they did not have the exact size I was looking for was told could order it right there and ship to him free, Great I thought. Well that was 12 days ago and still no package and Sears will not even tell me when it will be shipped. They have the same product on sale again this week with plenty in stock in the store but have not shipped the one I paid cash for in the store.…

The next step

Wow! Things have moved so quickly it seems as if just yesterday JT left for bootcamp. Now after that roller coaster ride is over, he is at "A" school. He had done his "OC" spray and did ok with it, and now he has called and he got to choose his duty station. My shock and awe is still in effect. He still has the opportunity to stay stateside for a little longer if he gets "MWD" military war dog, but if not he leaves for Guam after "A" school graduation for two years!! Two years mind you!! Ugh!!!… Continue

Saying Goodbye

After six months of waiting, my boyfriend finally came home!! Needless to say, I was over the moon. We've spent every spare minute together, and it's been wonderful! Unfortunately, after ten short days, he's leaving tomorrow morning...

I didn't think it would be as hard to say goodbye this time as it was the first time he left. But I was mistaken. I've spent the last two days in tears dreading him leaving again.

I'm beginning to wonder if I will ever be able to handle letting…

Put a Candle in the Window...

This holiday season, keep a "candle in the window" to show you're thinking of military personnel who won't be with loved ones, and to keep them in the minds of those who live around us.

"Putting a candle in a window is an ancient practice.  Throughout history, fire has meant warmth, security, food, and a barrier against the unsafe in an…

Chosen Path - Poem to My Son from His Mom

No matter where life takes you from sea to shining sea,

A crossed the many oceans and far away from me,

There is a piece of my heart that only you will have the key.

So each night I will think of you and see your handsome face,

Remembering when you were little and took challenges at a steady pace,

Keeping in my mind that this is the life that you have put in place.

The Navy is the next step that will allow you to continue…

one week down

Well I have made it through my first week of bootcamp.  I am holding it together pretty good.  I have had a breakdown one morning when I listened to the song "The Wind Beneath My Wings".  Then today I heard "merry Christmas Wherever You Are" by George Strait and I lost it again.  On a good note he will be graduating a week earlier than we thought he would so instead of 8 fridays we have 7 fridays.

All I want for Christmas is to be with my Sailor! <3

Best Christmas ornaments ever! I can't even express how thrilled I was to find these. I literally squealed, I didn't know I squealed until the cashier came over and said "Everything ok? Are you finding what you were looking for?" Hahaha...I gave her a big hug and said "YOU BET I…

Any recommendations where to take a sailor to eat that's open on Christmas Day?

I'm staying at the Navy Lodge. Do any of you know where is a restaurant that's open on Christmas Day?

Can I take him his cell phone and a jacket to keep after PIR?

the "box"

I got my box last week and it was freaky!! It felt like my son was killed and the killer stripped him of everything and sent it back to me-socks like they'd been pulled off, jeans with the belt still in the loops, cell phone-which my son is NEVER without-part of his arm, his watch, t shirt everything use thrown in with his shoes.  No note, nothing just dirty clothes!!!  Very creepy.
