My trip to Arlington National Cemetary

I decided on my 2 week trip to visit my sailor in Virginia I would also go to DC and to Arlington and pay my respects to our section 60 children. section 60 is about a 20 minute walk from where you can park and I had over 600 polished stones with me to lay on headstones. (just a little something to say I remember you, I love you and I will never forget what you gave up for me.) I went into the locator room and asked how to find section 60. The woman behind the counter asked me if I knew or had s… Continue

Adopt a Sailor

I just found this website (thanks Shell) And decided I am going to do this. I think we N4M could make a big difference in some sailors lives if all of us would just write one letter (you can do more if you want) Geez we did this in Boot camp we can do this again. Just one letter, postcard or package a month. Lets try to see is we can do this, and if it works out we can pick a new name each month. I will try to set this up if you all want. But before I start this I need to know who would be in ?… Continue

My First Patriot Gaurd Welcome Home

I went today to our airport to welcome home a 19 year old female Sailor coming from Guam. There were about 20 of us in a flag line, people clapping and cheering.....her mom crying. I had tears flowing down my face while I held the flag. I was amazing ! The motorcade to the airport was a sight to see motorcycles with big flags on them flying in the wind, followed by cars with flags. The sailor was in shock..........we all got big hugs from her. I was so proud to be part of this. God Bless America… Continue

Snipe Poem

Many a poet have written sailor tales About South Sea Isles and furious gales So, I'll not waste your time with a tale of this type Rather, I'll write of the sweaty, greasy snipe. He works in his hole when the temperature is right When the thermometer reads one twenty Fahrenheit. There's no salt water in his blood, Just stinking fuel oil and slimey bilge crud. He goes to sea with visions of bright sun, and wind swept spray But there are no hours of this in his working day. Four hours on and ei… Continue

My Parents

The picture is My mother, she was one of the first 100,000 women ever accepted into the military. And she was a WWII Navy W.A.V.E.S which means Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Services. She has her name somewhere on the womens memorial in Wash DC. Unfortunetly I have not been there to see it yet. ( but one day I am going to ) She was very proud to have been in the Navy during WWII, She was somewhat of a celebrity to military women when we would go to the V.A. They would always ask her abo… Continue

It is time for mom to grow up

This has been a hard week for me, I am learning to let go. As silly as this sounds BC was easier to go threw then this. It may have been hard, but I knew he was ok. Now it is a matter of trusting what you have taught them for 18 years, and believing that you have done a good job. Its about saying good-bye to your child. Hoping that they can protect themselves, make the right choices. It is also about allowing them to fall and pick themselves up. I know that I say good-bye to my child, and hello… Continue
