How to Discipline "Properly"

Most of the American populace thinks it improper to spank children, so I have tried other methods to control my kids when they have one of 'those moments’ One that I found effective is for me to just take the child for a car ride and talk. Some say it's the vibration from the car, others say it's the time away from any distractions such as TV, Video Games, Computer, IPod, etc. Either way, my kids usually calm down and stop misbehaving after our car ride together. Eye to eye conContinue

Cousin in Iraq - Scott's Birthday!!

Hey guys!! Today was my (distant) cousin's birthday who is in Iraq. I asked y'all to send him a card and got MANY responses!! I hope I got his address to everyone who asked. (Gustav and Ike did not help much). I did not tell his mom what kind of response I was getting on here - I wanted them to be surprised. Well, his mom emailed me today and here is her reply: Scott called on Sunday, he said Mom what have you done?" He said he has received at least 50 birthday cards. I told him it was justContinue

Inner Strength

If you can start the day without caffeine, If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains, If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles, If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it, If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time, If you can take criticism and blame without resentment If you can ignore a friend's limited education and never correct her/him, If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a… Continue

My banner came in today!! I have it ready when Derek comes home at the first of the year!! Yea, what a way to start early planning for this one!!! They are only doing 10,000 so you b… Continue

I Believe

Another neat thing that was emailed to me and I wanted to share with y'all!! Birth Certificate shows that we were born A Death Certificate shows that we died Pictures show that we lived! Have a seat . . Relax . . . And read this slowly. I Believe... That just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other. And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do love each other. I Believe... That we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends ch… Continue

When Your Hut's on Fire...

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him. Every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming.. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions. One day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, with smoke rolling up to the sky. He felt the worst had happened, and everyth… Continue

Meaning of Flag Draped Coffin

Another interesting item that was emailed to me and I thought I would share. All Americans should be given this lesson. Those who think that America is an arrogant nation should really reconsider that thought. Our founding fathers used GOD's word and teachings to establish our Great Nation and I think it's high time Americans get re-educated about this Nation's history. Pass it along and be proud of the country we live in and even more proud of those who serve to protect our "GOD GIVEN" rights… Continue

Four Boyfriends THIS TURNED OUT TO BE SO DIFFERENT FROM WHAT I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO BE.. IT IS A WONDERFUL WONDERFUL MESSAGE AND IF YOU THINK IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH 'REAL BOYFRIENDS' YOU WILL BE SURPRISED AT THE END... ENJOY Once upon a time there was a girl who had four boyfriends. ONE MINUTE EACH NIGHT...

This was emailed to me and I thought I would share it with my praying friends on here. ONE MINUTE EACH NIGHT.... This is the scariest election We as Christians have ever faced. From the looks of the polls, the Christians aren't voting Christian values. We all need to be on our knees. Do you believe we can take God at His word? Call upon His name, then stand back and watch His wonders to behold. His scripture gives us, as Christians, ownership of this land and the ability to call upon God to he… Continue

Another Inspirational Picture

I hope the picture will go through for you - of this Army soldier in Iraq with his tiny 'plot' of grass in front of his tent. It's heartwarming! Here is a soldier stationed in Iraq, stationed in a big sand box. He asked his wife to send him dirt (U.S. soil),! fertilizer, and some grass seed so that he can have the sweet aroma, and feel the grass grow beneath his feet. When the men of the squadron have a mission that they are going on, they take turns walking through the grass and the American so… Continue

Oh Yeah!!! Love this Comeback

Someone just emailed this to me - thought I would share it. Don't really know my views on the war - I hear sooo many conflicting stories. But I do agree with this comment, OH YEAH! Love This Comeback One of my sons serves in the military. He is still stateside, here in California. He called me yesterday to let me know how warm and welcoming people were to him and his troops everywhere he goes, telling me how people shake their hands and thank them for being willing to serve and fight for not… Continue

Gather Your Things and Come on Over

When starting this blog I also considered calling it Pay It Forward, because that is the message that I want to pass on. In the movie Pay It Forward (I have not seen it - but I’ve heard it is awesome!), a young boy does something good for three people and then encourages them to do something good for three more people - thereby, making a difference in this world. I feel that is the purpose of the website, Navy for Moms. Let me explain with an example. On August 1, I had tContinue
