Another New Chapter...

Well, it's offiicial....he's in Hawaii. Yea for him....and I mean that....only the moms here know how much I really am happy for him. He called about an hour ago to let me know he was safe, and he sounds so marvelous! I had the timing pegged just right. He had a 10 minute lay over in Los Angeles, and arrived in Hawaii at 10 p.m. their time (3 am our time)...it was just after noon in Hawaii when he called me (just after five here), and he said it is "so beautiful and 80 degrees" augh......I might… Continue

Success Defined

Well, it's way too early (or late) for this to be "normal" blogging time, but over-active thoughts often push rest and sleep away these days. Exhaustion and fatigue put a different spin on being a "night owl", but maybe I can write a few lines to bring clarity to my own muddled brain, and hopefully give a little insight to others who might be dealing with some of the same issues..... Just thought I'd share some personal perspectives on success and failure, and the paths that bring us to them. A… Continue

Turning the Page

We're busy at home now with everything we put on hold while "adjusting" to basic training. It seems that those eight weeks were lived in slow motion, as I look back now. I know I told Martin the days seemed to be 60 hours long in at least one of my letters. I spent many hours just wishing I could hear his voice....seems odd now, since we've talked to him twice this week! But life has a way of changing sync quickly, doesn't it? I still feel his absence every time I walk into our home; still thin… Continue

Just a Little Rambling...

Well, we're in the home stretch, and I think I can safety say I'll survive this. Of course, I questioned it a few times, especially early on. But with the support of our family and the wonderful ladies on N4M's, it has been easier. As most women do, I've begun to think ahead to the next step(s) and questions flood my mind. If there is one lesson I'm learning through this, it's that all the questions aren't going to be answered soon...maybe never, and I'll just have to wait. Not a pleasant task… Continue

I'm Trying Not to Imagine

Since we all must "hurry up and wait" to hear from our offspring, I'm wondering if other Moms catch themselves imagining what they are doing. I know I do. I've put so many questions in the letters (one at least every other day) he'll probably not even try to answer them until we can talk...and that's ok. But, it's probably not a good idea to let ourselves daydream very much, because us girls have some vivid imaginations to begin with, and the fact that it's our sons we're wondering about...not p… Continue

Good is Not Always Easy

We know it is good for him to do this...he has talked about it since junior high school. He hasn't "found his niche" anywhere else...high school-let's just say we're glad we made it...college-he gave it a try, but wasn't for him...working full time-that was a big challenge too-but he did it for an entire year...loathed it (except for the money). But that was not enough for him to be independent of us, so even that became unimportant. So this decision is good, 100% good. It's just not easy right… Continue
