Well, it's almost here. We leave tomorrow to fly to Milwaukee then on to GL for Em's PIR!!!! I couldn't be more excited and anxious and ....well you know:) This is really a big deal and we are soooooo proud of Em's accomplishments so far. And this is just the beginning! Can't wait to take a bunch of pictures and post them here and on fb and send them out to family. I'll be back next week with a new sailor in the family:) Continue

Well, I just updated my page and joined a new group. Not much time left for Emily in basic now. Her new PIR is 9/25 and will be here before we know it! I made online reservations at the Navy Lodge in Emily's name and now need to make arrangements here at home for the boys while we're gone. Tim will handle the flight plans. After several weeks in RCU Emily called today from the doctor's office to say they're moving her to another division to finish basic and PIR! FINALLY!! Apparently her wrist has healed completely, despite the doctor's prognosis last week that she would probably be looking at surgery. The doctors took several xrays and believe that a miracle happened. Emily called!!! She is allowed one 1-hr phone call on Sundays, although today she could only take 10 minutes since their division got in trouble this past week. She sang in church this morning at chapel! She used to sing in the youth praise band so it's good to know she's doing something she enjoys and that will get her mind off her troubles. And she's trying to stay positive despite her situation. She's made some great new friends but she desperately misses the old ones too. Thank you to everyo… Continue

Emily called today to say she had been "asmoed" due to her fractured wrist. The doctor took the first cast off and re-xrayed it to find that it hadn't healed at all! She's had the cast on for 10 days or so...this was not the news we wanted to hear. And Emily was understandably upset and yet realized there was nothing she could do about it. So she will have to leave her division and go to RCO for possibly 8 weeks to heal and undergo PT. Then she will return to a division that is at the same point… Continue
