OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son left for Basic also on 8/8/17. This is new and different for me as well. He is my oldest child and I am use to talking to him everyday. We just have to stay prayerful and trust that they will succeed.

My nephew left Wednesday of this week. Did you send a phone card? I wasn't sure if they are even still available. Thinking of sending one with a letter if he will need it. I think about him all the time.

BoosTT, yes, phone cards are still available and BC is one of the few places where pay phones still exist. Now that he has sent his cell phone home, he must have a phone card to make calls from the RTC other than those for information or due to a problem. You can send him one once you have his address. He is able to buy one at the NEX. See Phone Cards and Phone Calls.
