How close I came to being laid off

On January 22 the Macy's lay offs began. I had been holding my breath hoping I wouldn't get called to HR. Then it came "Please come to the office". I went to the office got the we're sorry speech and tried not to cry. When the poor guy asked me if I was OK I replied "Sure I am. But are you OK? This has got to be hard on you?" I kept telling myself the silver lining is the store closing then everyone would be out of a job. That night as I drowned my sorrows in chocolate my husband teased me about asking if the guy firing me was going to be OK. He always kids me about my silver lining, good karma out look. That night I did feel like a spaz what was I thinking worrying if the person firing me was OK. But then yesterday I was called by our department manager. There had been a mistake, I still had a job!!!!! My hours were cut but at least I have hours. So even if my husband keeps laughing at me it doesn't matter I'll continue with my silver lining/good karma outlook. My children are healthy and I still have a job what more can I ask for except to see my sailor soon?

Awww awesome! You go right on with your good Karma/ Silver Lining..........I think your kindness has more impact than you begin to fathom! Not many people would have asked the person laying them off, if they were OK. I love it when people are beautiful from the inside out. We all need more kindness & nuturing in our lives......how many people cussed that poor man out & raked him over the coals for doing his job. Let your light shine!!!!

I think it's great that you have your silver lining, every one has to have hope that things work out not just for themselves but for others to. I am glad you still have your job. I too work in retail and we are on a hiring freeze. It's a scary time right now.
