Hang in there, you will hear soon.  In the meantime, you may want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Mom's, PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here.  Be sure to join the group for his PIR date once you know that.  There will be information on that on Boot Camp Mom's and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date.

Also, edit the title so it is not so long--"Son Left June 24", for example.  Anytime you do not put a title in the "Post Title" box, then the program automatically puts the first 200 characters in as the title and that is a bit much.

My son left yesterday. Do you know when your son will graduate? My son's projected graduation date is on 8/24. His name is Hunter and he just graduated high school in May. He enlisted last summer so I've had plenty do time to prepare. But I don't think there is anything that can prepare you to say goodbye the day they leave :( it has been a pretty somber day today. I did hear from him at 11;30 last night to let me know he made it to Great Lakes. I'm so incredibly proud of him, but sad to see him leave. He is my first born and only boy so it was tough. I also have 2 girls ages 15 years and another 7 months. I'm afraid my little one won't remember her Bubba when we see him in August. Good luck to your son!! I hope these next 8 weeks go by fast.

My son's has been gone a week, I think his PIR date will be August 24th as well, although I have not received his letter yet.  I am already looking for hotels, any suggestions?

I have booked our flights but not the hotel yet. My mom has mentioned a Marriott that is nearby. Hoping to finalize our reservations this week. I'll let you know what I find.
