I have made my decision. Before I tell you, I want to thank everyone for your support. This is a lot harder then I thought it was going to be.

I am going to take him to the hotel on Sunday and then go back on Monday and watch the swearing in. I could just let him go with the recruiter, but the only other person going is a girl. I don't want him to think we just abandon him and I want to take him out for a good dinner. I miss him already and he is in his room now, blaring his radio. LOL!!!! Believe it or not I will miss that too. Thanks for listening!

Good for you!! You have to do what feels right to you! Don't explain it to anyone, just do what is best for you and your family! I miss that radio, and the phrase I never thought I would miss which is "hang on a minute".

I was fortunate to be at my son's swearing in. One chance for that. No regrets!

I took my son on Monday morning to the recruiter's office and dropped him off. I cried my eyes out! I cried when the recruiter asked me how I felt. I cried and cried, but I left him at the office. His recruiter took him to the MEPS station (1 1/2 hours from us) and put him up in a hotel for the night. I didn't sleep that night. Next morning we all got up at the crack of dawn to get ready and we drove down to MEPS. We got there about 20 minutes before the swearing in. Waiting in that hall, turning and watching him come down the hall with the other recruits and file into the Ceremony Room, yep, I cried some more. We watched the swearing in, even video taped it, took tons of pictures, cried some more, and finally I had to give him that very last hug. Oh wow, I am tearing up again! That was the last time I saw him. He graduated from boot camp but we were unable to go and he is now in Pensacola for his A school. I am really hoping he gets to come home on leave, but that's still two more months away, if we are lucky. These are big changes for all our families. God Bless.

I took my son to the recruiter's office on a Wednesday, the redruiter took him to the MEPS station. My husband and I along with his twin brother and little brother arrived at the MEPS station at 7:00am. We also went to the airport to see him off to the beginning of his future. This was the first time in his 18 years of living that we have ever been seperated, as far as him going to another state without his family. I cried for two reasons, 1. my son was going to be away from us and 2. he was beginning to transform from a young boy to an adult. I was so proud of him, the feeling is something I can't explain. The first time I got to talk to him while he was basic training was a joy, the tone in his voice was so different he was not my little boy anymore, but my young man. I attended his basic training graduation and it was an experience that was so awesome, to see all of the recruits in their uniforms and the whole program was just wonderful. After the graduation when I finally was able to find my sailor, I cried and cried and cried, I hugged and squeezed him so tight that he said "mom please let me go"...lol. If you are unable to make to the swearing in, please make to the graduation, it's an experience you don't want to miss.
