I just finished writing this letter to Erin. After re-reading it I decided I should put it in my blog.

5/31/12 evening
Hey girlie!!

How ya doing? Did you have a good day? I bet it was tough. Yelling, 8 counts, etc etc. You made it though! It should be about hygiene time and then laundry, mailcall. I wonder if you have started standing watches yet? I know you still may be feeling lonely and scared sometimes. Look around honey,, you are not alone! These girls are right there with you. You wouldn't believe the pride all of us parents have for you all. N4M's has been wonderful for me. It is a place I fit in. Surrounded by moms who are all going thru the same challenges and adventure I am. Just like you. Your division is your family right now. And they all understand just what you are going through. They are just as scared, tired, want to quit at times, wonder what the hell they are doing there. You are a strong girl. You have drive, ambition and the strength and will to get you through this.. Reach out to someone who could use a friend. Be someones champion. Let someone else know that they aren't alone. This is probably the hardest week. Processing is over and your division is finally underway counting real bootcamp days. (today should be 1-2 day?). PT and IT have probably started with a vengence. July seems like an eternity away. Tomorrow is the 1st of June so by the time you get this you can say.. my PIR is NEXT month!!
I counted your days, you arrived on 5/16 and will PIR on 7/13. That is only 58 days!! and you have already done 16 of them! Even a few more by the time you read this! You are more than half way to half way (29 days)!! And you will get to start doing cool stuff.. firefighting, shooting guns! Battle stations will be here before you know it. Keep your chin up young grasshopper!
You are my sunshine.
Love always,
Mom

Love all of the POSITIVE comments! My son told me when bc was over that mail call was the best part of the day for him. Keep writing, even if it's about everyday things going on where you live. Keep everything positive and happy. Our kids LIVE for their mail...their only source of information from the outside world.
