Your son is an adult as far as the Navy is concerned. Any information that your son wants to share with you must come from him; otherwise, the Navy would be violating privacy laws. You are free to learn as much as his ship USS Bataan and if you have some idea what line of work he is in, perhaps you can join the Navy For Moms groups associated with that rating. Perhaps you'll get lucky and run across another family who might know your son (please don't disclose real names here). You'll just have to be patient. Many young men and women when they join the armed forces want some separation from the parents. It has nothing to do with whether they love or not love the parents. It has everything to do with growing up and being independent.

also, see the facebook pages/ yourtube videos,, you may catch a glimpse there :) yes, they become independent overnight!  ughhhh!

He has always been independent. I know he is a PO 3rd class and he is a machinists mate. I'm just wanting to send him a letter. And sadly the recruiting office he signed in through is shut down.

lol,, yes there all born independent,,, but this is where "they" cut the apron strings from "us", even when we are not ready yet.  :)  anyways,, aleast you know his boat and job now.  I know being a mom, you just want to hear even one word from them, to make it all better!  blessings!

He has pretty much kept me in the loop. And he is strong minded and willed. I'm not an overly protective mom to be honest. He has always been responsible and level headed. which I am very proud of that. He has always had problems receiving his mail and I now have the proper format for addressing letters and have some things to send him. Military can be confusing at times.

Tammi,

Join the USS Bataan group and ask for the ombudsmen number.  After you contact them they will contact your son to see if it is ok for them to send you updates about his ship. Texting and emailing usually work for me. LOL
