Son arrived BC Thursday 10/20; cell phone got sent back and received 10/23. Recruiter said  on 10/23, graduation should be 12/15. Should we book our flight and hotel?

Good Morning Fayehorne, as far as the Graduation and making arrangement I would wait for the form Letter with his Information. Hotels can be made because those can be cancelled beforehand if anything changes with his schedule, Anything can happen between now and then. My son Graduated Sept. 1st 2017 I believe we started making arrangement mid August. But again it is around the Holidays. here is a blog to read has great info on making arrangement SURVIVAL_GUIDE102317a.pdf. If you have any question please feel free to reach out. and Congrats to your New SR.

You are very welcome, when you do receive the Form letter inside will be a guide with all the hotels that are in Waukegan also if you want they have the navy Lodge I think you make reservations with your Loved one's info that's like a mile away, but I don't believe they have shuttle I may be mistaking. Holiday in, Residence INN, Springfield Inn and a few others are right down from Wal Mart and some Restaurants. a Must restaurant is porkys BBQ OMG it's family owned you get a lot of food and very delicious. made fresh. Stevens steakhouse was great went there after PIR a little pricey but great. down the street from Great America and other restaurants and a Target. Anytime you need I am here.

So the cell phones get mailed back? Good to know. I will believe our son's may be in boot together Fayehorne. My son shipped out on 10/24 so just a couple days behind your son.

My son shipped yesterday, 10/24. His form letter will include his PIR date? If so, is it a firm date or tentative and win should wait for his 3 week call?

julieanns, yes, cell phones are mailed back. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC will let you know what is happening and what to expect.

Mynavybaby, yes, The Form Letter will include the PIR date and it will be your recruit's PIR date unless something happens to change it.

You may receive an "I'm still alive!" call in week 3 or 4 (calendar week, not DOT), but that call can come before or after that depending on when the RDC is able to schedule the phone banks. Don't expect a call, but do have your phone available from 8ish am to 8ish pm Central Time and be pleasantly surprised when you receive a call.  The "I'm still alive!" call or other calls the RDC schedules usually come in the mornings on weekdays except on the day of a PIR because the "I'm a Sailor!" calls, which are typically made 1-7 days, but can come up to 10 days, before PIR, are in the afternoon and evenings, but calls can come anytime during those hours on Saturday.  Calls on the day of a PIR or on Sunday come between 1 and 8 pm. Calls for security reasons or for information are generally made during regular business hours.  Remember "No news is good news!" See Phone Cards and Phone Calls.

I left info for you on your My Page.
