Navy For Moms

It seems that this week of worry is almost over. Chris told us today that another sailor had the same infection and that's where he contracted MRSA, a type of Staph infection. He went back to Dr. today and they released him to clean and wrap his own wound. The hole in his thumb from where they drained and dug out the infection is starting to close. Chris was rather breif on whether or not the bad part was over. I think that he's withholding more info as not to worry me any further. With that said I appreciate all of your prayers and concern. Please continue to pray that this continues to heal and that his pain is minimal. I know that the nerve ending on your thumb with an open wound, from surgery, hurts a tremendous amount but he's being a real tough guy about it. Thank you Navy Moms for coming together in our time of need. You Rock! Go Navy!

Crystal this is great news. I will continue to pray for total healing and for Chris to be able to do everything he wants and needs to do. How are you doing mom? Are you hanging in there ok? Let me know if you need anything - I'm close. Take Care and Bless You Crystal....

Crystal, he may not be giving you every detail... our sons worry about us as much as we do them! However, if they have released him to clean it and it is beginning to close then I would think he has 'turned the corner' and has come through the worst of the infection. MRSA is nothing to play with and I'm sure the doctors have been very careful to be sure of having cleaned it our before letting it heal! Think of the great stories Chris will be able to tell of his 'battle' wound!

Crystal, I am so glad to hear your son is healing. Susan is right, they would not release him to clean it himself unless he was ok to do that. They are very particular about that stuff. My son had a scare a few months ago in his rescue swimmer school, and they kept a very close eye on him until he was able to be released. Once he was released they had him check with the dr until they totally released him. They really do keep a good eye on them. Hope you are doing better too Mom, give yourself a big hug!
