Would anyone know the answers to these random questions?

  1. Are recruits allowed to bring contacts, saline solution & cases to BC for pictures & PIR?
  2. Do you know how much will be deducted in BC for uniforms (Male/Female)? I'm assuming they won't get all their uniforms at BC.
  3. Will they have footwear for showers or do they bring them?
  4. Will the recruit put the addresses on The Box and Form Letter or does the mailing address for these 2 items come from the recruits file?
  5. Is being on Facebook beneficial once the recruit leaves for BC? I'm not on Facebook but can activate my account again if its helpful. Just wondering if it will be beneficial.
  6. I read that one of the families sent Sarge's taxi service to the airport to pick up their Sailor so they didn't have to sit there for 6-7 hours and Sarge's taxi service brought the Sailor back to their hotel room so he could shower, eat, and nap and then they drove him back to the airport before his departure time. Has anyone heard of this before?

Thank you everyone!!!

They can bring their contacts, if they get sent back, you can mail them before picture day/PIR.

Not sure how much of the uniform allowance is deducted, but it is a large amount (over $600?).  They also must purchase non-issue items such as underwear, bras, running shoes, and PT gear out of pocket.  They cannot bring such items, they must all have exactly the same items.  This includes the shower shoe flip flops.

The recruit will address the box and form letter.  They can carry a small address book, or better yet, a list in their wallet of addresses and phone numbers they need to know.

There are official sites on FB, and the RTC one posts random photos of divisions.  There are also PIR groups there too. Up to you.  Facebook groups don't always enforce OPSEC, so never my first choice.

Whoever fetched their new sailor from the airport were damn fools.  If he had missed that flight, the consequences would have been dire, including possibly losing his school contract.  Do not even consider it for a moment.  The sailors are supposed to be accounted for at all times, which is why they are bussed into the airport.  They are supposed to stay there until their flight.  They know this.  Absolutely against the rules.

Thanks everyone for your feedback!

As far as #6, yes, I thought it was odd myself but I always ask questions if I can't find answers. Maybe the Sarges taxi service didn't have all the information on why they were picking up the sailor in the first place, who knows. Its not important at this point, I just wanted to find out if anyone had heard of this before.
