Finally heard from my son this morning. They just allowed an hour of phone calls. Since after the 5 vaccinations were given, he’s been suffering cold and congested and he sounds awful on the phone and not taking any medication for it. Thank God, no fever. My son was chosen as a Port Leader in his division. Being a division leader, he's the first to wake up and the last one to go to bed. So he's sleep and rest deprived.  Poor baby. His division 041-042 has a 4.9 point average 8th place. Snail mails from families and friends are the lone connection to the outside worlds they have. Only the bible and other religious reading material are available, they have for leisure readings and not allowed to receive books through mail.  Moby-Dick chapters I've been sending was a treat to him and to other recruits. Reminder to self: Send Rossie Mobydick chapter 5 on Monday.

Be very careful on what you send your recruit. First, there is not much storage in their rack for items sent. There is a reason there are only certain items available to them for reading. He really needs to be focusing on the study material he has received in boot camp. He may get called out by the RDCs about his reading material.

Pleae be sure and join the group for your sons PIR. Just click on the link below,.

Wait! We can send care packages? When my SR left for bootcamp we were told no care packages. We have 14 and a wake up until G-Day so it’s too late for me. I’ve sent tons of letters though. I’m hoping my SR didn’t feel bad if others received care packages and he didn’t.

No care packages USNMOM, your recruit isn't missing anything. If someone did get a care package, the RDCs enjoyed it not the recruits. LOL

Battle station was done. Division 042 which my son is in won the Captains Cup. My son will be on the top of 3% graduating with honor. Congratulations to all sailors!
