So I have to find out a way to get to my fiance's graduation March 18th. But money is looking a lil grim and I don't have any clue as to how I am going to get up there. Also we really want to get married and we know it will be hard and all but we are ready for the commitment. The only thing is that he is going into Nuke school and I have heard that he will go straight to A school after bootcamp, does anyone have any advice on both of these topics?

Look into Amtrak...I got a round trip for less than $300.00 for 2 people. There is a wealth of good information on N4M. Good Luck

Definitely look into flights to find the cheapest rates. If your little girl is under 2 (or 1), she can fly for free on certain airlines. The Amtrak can take you from the airport right to Great Lakes. The cheapest place to stay is the Navy Lodge in Great Lakes, which is super close to base. Should be walking distance...

He will go straight to GC for A school. If he's a Grad n Go, then he'll fly down there the weekend of graduation...As early as Friday night or Saturday morning. If he's a grad n' go, and the money is tight already, then you may want to make a decision as to whether or not you want to go to graduation. Even though it is amazing and it's nice to see him again, you could save your money and fly down to Goose Creek a week or so later. At that point you may even be able to get married.
He'll have about a week of Indoc after he gets down there, and then he'll start classes. There are three liberty phases that he'll have to go through. You can find those in Nuke Moms under the discussion: "Your Sons schedule upon arrival at Goose Creek" :)
If you have any questions, I'm here to answer. :)

Thanks everybody for the info... And (aaronsgirl) that sounds awesome, if I can make it to his graduation I'll get to see him then.. And his mom said once he gets to Goose Creek we are gonna go see him, so this marriage thing isn't looking so impossible now :)

Lots of things to consider poeticfee6, I hope you two can get all the kinks worked out.  Money is necessary to life and sometimes it just don't stretch as far as you wish.  Hope you've given up smoking it would save you a bunch of money each month.
