Memorial Day and its importance to me!

I have always been proud of all the past and present servicemen and servicewomen and have always honored them in any way possible. Now, I have a different appreciation for the servicemen and servicewomen since my three children are part of the Navy. My daughter, Samantha, is a reservist, my older son, John, is full-time SARs and deployed now and heading overseas, my younger son, Matthew, is a DEPPER and ships out in July. Any time a news broadcast talks about the military, I stop in my tracks to follow the stories and continue to pray for all military personnel.

Memorial Day has a more special meaning to me now since my children are part of the present military and are part of the reason I celebrate the special day with a different attitude and smile proudly when I see the American flag and all branches of the military flags flying high on each day we are given to be here and all the praise and glory for what I have goes to my Creator first and then all the military after that.

Have a Blessed Memorial Day and always remember those who have served and pray for the ones who are serving. Thank you for all your husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, fiances and friends who are serving!!!!

It is just me and my husband, no animals. We live in the city limits of our small country town and not zoned for animals. We had a dog, yet he is no longer with us and with the traveling that we will be doing with our children, it is selfish on our part to have a dog, yet leave him in a kennel for the duration of our trips. I am learning alot too and just appreciating the sacrifices being made for the safety of all of us! I am very proud and my pride grows each day when I see the growth and maturity in my children and the responsibilities that they do not shy away from. Just got a letter this afternoon from my son at boot camp and he is anxious to graduate and move on the the next phase of his Navy career; so am I! I got an e-mail from my other son overseas last evening after about e-mails being stopped for about 10 days. What a relief to have the lines of communication opened again. During the duration that e-mails were stopped, I just know that he was allowed to receive e-mails, yet not allowed to respond. So, I was sending just quick-thinking-of-you e-mails at least everyday or every other day so that he would know I was thinking of him and in my prayers. I am in PA and have a 10-hour drive to get to graduation. How long of a drive do you have? It will be a short visit, but definitely well worth it as you said. Take care. What division is your son in? Mine is in division 290. Chat later. Susan
