First of all it was my first time in NY, and I was as excited as I have ever been cause I wanted to see all the sites..everything!!! but I had limited time we pulled in on 11/06/09 at about 8pm and checked into the New Yorker and it was a beautiful hotel but very small rooms. LOL, Very Small!! but nice.Well we couldn't see him that nite because he was on the ship getting prepared for company, So we got up bright and early to get in that long line to go in about 930 am, it was pretty cold but we were so excited we didn't care. And than I saw Joy she didn't see me but I saw her and her daughter I yelled but everybody was yelling and she didn't hear me, but my son said him and her daughter met and I was glad of that. ( HI STACEY ). The Commissioning was long and it was cold out and I thought I would freeze but to see all the wonderful people like Hillary Clinton, The mayor of NY, so many vets from different times and Commander Jones for the first time made it well worth it. And than we got to get on the Ship, and it was amazing just to see what my son see's everyday. I don't have to wonder anymore! I don't know how they sleep in those bunks but hey he does it. such a small space for the to relax and unwind! But it is a Combat Ship huh?? not a cruise ship LOL!!! it was great to see everything and how it works and to see the job he does, and to know he enjoys what he does and where he is, He is proud to be a part of the USS NY LPD 21. We walked around for a while like to Time Square and the areas surrounding it, and eventually ate at TGI FRIDAY's which was the worse thing ever!!! Well the second worst cause the McDonald's across the street from the New Yorker was the pitts too!!!Yuck!!! Well the food was expensive which was expected but the service was terrible, after we got our food the waitress never came to our table to see if we needed anything, we were getting up and stopping other workers to get things like napkins water ketchup and the list goes on!! than we sat at the table for 45min before she noticed we were still sitting there finisher with food and brought us the wrong checks TWICE!!! WOW...It was crazy, so we left there and walked around some more, we wanted to go to the 40-40 club but no-one wanted to walk that far so we stopped at a bar in town had some drinks and headed back for the hotel. On Sunday the day we had to leave we got up and had breakfast at the Tick Tock and it was great!!! NY Redeemed!! The service and the food was great! After that we decided to visit Ground Zero The WTC site and it was a site to see.I wanted to cry as we passed by, but than I thought about how the building is still living through the bow of the USS NY LPD 21 and I was smiling again! May God Bless The Fallen and the Living In NY...
NEVER FORGET
