I just found out the hotel we're staying at for PIR does not offer a shuttle to PIR.  So now I need advice on getting to PIR on time.  My husband is very relaxed on time and doesn't rush for anything and that is stressing me out.  Although we were on time for my step-sons Army bootcamp graduation.  Stressing now...ugh!!!

I'm stressing because I don't know the area so I don't know the "back" ways to get to where I'm going.  How much time do I allow myself to get to PIR?

GoNavyChic we will be staying at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Chicago-Lincolnshire.  How bad is traffic coming from that way at 6am?  How much time do I allow for getting onto base and walking to where graduation will be?  Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Traffic at 6 am not bad...takes about 30 min with lite traffic.you can take i94 or hwy 41 to Buckley.once you get off Buckley, ten min to crossover green bay road, stay in right lane,va hospital on right, another block down cross over lewis, across two sets railroad tracks...gate on right.it is clearly marked for rtc graduation gate.

This am grad date traffic was lite around 730. Grad gate is one lane ..security is getting a lot better at speeding things up.I'd say leave about ten min for walking after parking

My sailor's PIR is 7/31 as well how were the rates at Homewood Suites? We haven't booked yet?
Comment by mcmomma on June 18, 2015 at 7:14pm

me2u the rates at Homewood Suites are $89 per night.  Looks like a nice hotel, has a full kitchen, separate bedroom.  Just tell them you are in town for PIR and they'll give you a discounted rate (I did it online and got the rate there too).
