My son leaves for bootcamp on Monday. We take him Sunday.  I've sent my son and my daughter off to college, but this is not the same feeling.  Not even close.  My breaths are getting shorter and I try hard not to cry in front of anyone.  I'm having nightmares.  I am trying to stay strong for my other three kids. They haven't seen me break yet!  My husband tries to give me comforting words but they don't always work. Thanks to all you other moms for the comfort you send out to us newbies.  I feel like this support system is going to get me through this. Please send out prayers for my son and oxygen for me!  I will pray for your sons and daughters as well.  Thanks.

I felt the same way...nightmares and all. After receiving my daughters form letter, I feel better. This site has helped too. You are not alone. You will get through this. God bless.

my son also was away for four years at college---sending him to the bootcamp is an entirely different feeling than sending him  away to college---I was a nervous wreck--- he has done well --loves the navy ---your son will be fine and so will you---when he gets there and you get letters and phone calls you will feel better ---it goes by fast---my son graduates on 7/18/2014---I saw the change and maturity when he graduated from college and I already see even more as he gets ready to become a sailor---stay strong !!!!!

I am feeling the same way my son is going to start BC soon. He's my only. Just thinking about it makes my eyes watery

He is officially a sworn-in recruit now.  On his way to the airport to go to Great Lakes.  When we said our goodbyes last night I did cry like a fool, however, I slept better than I've slept in months.  The anticipation got to me more than anything else.  I'm very excited about this new chapter in his life.  He turned us into a military family.  Who would have thunk it?!
