PIR Hotels

I know that one of my big questions was where to stay while at PIR. You feel kind of rushed, and you are booking your motel sight unseen. After being in the great lakes area, I would highly recommend staying in Gurnee. It is so close to the base, the mall is right there and there are a million places to eat and nice hotels. We stayed in Waukegan at the Ramada which is also close, but not as many things to do. The rooms were fine, and room service was the way to go because the service in the restaraunt is horrible. The Residence Inn in Gurnee has wonderful PIR rates and is very nice to look at from the outside and many people on this site have recommended it. Also-the Candlewood Suites looked very nice from the drive by. I hope this helps everyone, because when you have your sailor on liberty you want to save time and be close to as many things as possible!!
