Navy For Moms

My son is 21 and due to go to BC on 12/16. He was just diagnosed with Mono. Can he pass the blood test with taking penicillin and or should he tell his recruiter?

Definitely tell recruiter immediately. He can tell you proper protocol and get you on the right track with MPES. My son knocked his kneecap out of place 2 weeks before bootcamp. We called our recruiter and he came to the doctor's office and hospital with us. He spent the next 2 weeks getting waiver from MPES and checking up on Tyler. He finally got the waiver approved 3 days before bootcamp. This is what the recruiters are there for.

Absolutely let it be known. He could get sent home once he is there if it is discovered, not to mention the damage he could do to his liver if he doesn't take it easy. Talk to the doctor who diagnosed him for a time line. He would also have a hard time keeping up in boot with Mono, they don't get much rest.
