Please tell me they did not throw away my letters because of me writing I love you on the back of the Envelope

Oh my Goodness.  I am now almost in tears from one of these previous posts.  Nothing said that we could not write on the outside of the envelope.  On the back of each letter I would write Day 1 Love your or Day 2 miss you in small letters at the seal.  Are you telling me they threw away all of those letters.  :-(  that was a whole weeks worth of memories.  Please someone tell me this is not the case, that they only do that in extreme circumstances!

From what I hear it depends on the RDC.  My son said that his doesn't mind if they have colored envelopes.  He said the RDC doesn't even look at the mail unless there are pictures or it's oversized.  I think you should be ok.  I have read on here some horor stories but I haven't experienced that first hand.  I guess anything that doesn't draw attention is best.

they dont take mail way or open letters dont write on outside you could sign each letter and number them down in corner. I mailed cards to both my son and daughter in law nothing was ever said about taking mail away. these rummers have gone on for years.....abby

Thanks all.  From facebook I also got the same reassurance.  But to be safe, I'll just stick to writing the address.  Thanks again!!!

Yes, it's always safe to stay with plain white envelopes with no additional stuff on the outside. Reserve the lovey-no-matter-how-old-you-are-you-will-always-be-my-baby stuff for the inside. Relax and start your preparation for PIR.

It is ILLEGAL for them to throw away mail... federal offense.  There is a delay in them getting mail initially, as the division must get their mail PO trained before they can handle the mail.  See?  They are required to train a recruit to properly handle the mail according to guidelines.  Your letters are alright.

It is always better to "fly under the radar" in boot camp.  He won't be punished, the mail won't be tossed out.  Just try not to call a ton of attention to him.

So funny, got it off this site, one of the other blogs.  But you all are right, I did get confirmation that the mail does not get thrown away.  However, I am still heading the warning to not do anything to cause any unnecessary attention to be drawn to her.  After all, she still has 6 weeks!

Hahahah i laughed at Sissi's post for a few minutes about making them dance to the musical cards.

But oh my gosh i sent out like 9 pages in my first letter and it was a little bulky..that shouldn't be a problem should it?
