OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Can any one provide a list or link to restaurants and attractions near the navy base, SR is only able to spend a few hours with us so we wanted to do something close by so we don't have to rush.

Thanks,

We went to Gurnee Steakhouse on Gurnee right PIR. It was delicious. We only had a couple of hrs b/c sailor had watch at 1700. We went to Wildberry the next morning for pancakes. PIR was 2015 but I'm sure they are still there

This may be posted too late for you mygod5, but maybe it will help someone else.

https://www.flanaganseat41.com/ - Flanagan's is just up the street on Buckley Rd. not very far from RTC. Don't let outward appearances fool you. It is nice and large inside and they have a large menu. Not necessarily diner cheap prices, but what you would expect from a nice restaurant. We stayed in the Red Carpet Inn next door, and went over and ordered pizza to go, just to take back to our hotel room with our new sailor who only had a short liberty time as well. Our PIR was 8-25-17.
