Today August 28, 2012 my son Tony has left for Rota, Spain. He is only 19 years of age and I feel as if though he was still my "baby boy'. It was so difficult watching him walk away from me at the airport, but I know that he is a young  man and he is a soldier. No longer am I able to make decisions for him to prevent harm or heart ache, but we all have to go our own way and find our oath in life.  I am proud of the life decisions he has made and I know that behind his choices were may nights of research to insure that he was knowledgeable enough to make that choice. I am confident in his ability to distinguish wrong from wright and friend from enemy. I know the kindness in his heart and the gentleness he can bestow on someone in pain. he is not a man of many words but the words that he does speak are full of well thought out opinions, and even though he does not have the life experiences to speak with such depth and passion. I admire the way he views the world.

My son has made me so proud and I already feel the loneliness his departure has left in our family. I am already planning a trip to Rota, Spain this December.

Looking forward to meeting him in Spain.
