My son in leaving for basic on Feb.18th. He is currently signed up for the PACT program. My husband and I are concerned that this may have been a poor choice. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

The information within Professional Apprenticeship Career Tracks (PACT) Program will be of interest to you. There are links to groups within that discussion.

Two groups for you to join. If you read all the comments, you'll get the good and the bad.

Good luck. But don't let others influence you. Like everything in life, he can make the experience his own.

My son will be at Great Lakes for A school for Seaman PACT program after basic. He said that is 2 weeks. Does that mean we should plan on 14 days? Meaning that includes the weekends correct?

My son is APact which is 2 weeks as well- but- he arrived in Florida on Jan 30th. They spend the first week in INDOC which doesn't count. Then they have to wait to class up before their 2 weeks starts. My son still hasn't classes up so he will be there 2 more weeks AFTER he classes up. I'm not sure if it takes as long to class up in Great Lakes as it does in Florida.

The S-PACT training is 9 days after the 5 days of INDOC, so about 3 weeks after classing up.
