I just received a terrible call my daughter, it was the scripted timed call stating do not come to my graduation as I will not be there I have been set back 8 to 10 weeks due to injury, and I have fractured my pelvis in 2 places, stress fracture. My daughter was set to graduate on August 3, 2018 . Unfortunately the call was timed and we did not get to talk in detail, has anyone had any similar experiences? My heart is broken.

Oh, I’m so sorry to hear this, my heart goes out to her and you. Sending prayers for a speedy recovery your way.

Thanks guys! Yep ship 04 now, is that like a hospital and do you think that means 8-10 weeks recovery or total time till she graduates? Will she pick up where she left off after she recovers?

Comment by RURU on July 4, 2018 at 7:42am

Oh my goodness.  Can you go to her?  I know that may be a strange question, but they should at least let you speak to her today.

I want nothing more than to be with her RURU, she’s only 18, turns 19 next week. Hooyahsuzy, I will defiantly write her daily, I have been writing as much as I could but now I’ll make a point to send a letter each day. So is ship 4 like a hospital setting and thx I’m sure I’ll need you guys, this has really brought me down. I was counting down the days till August 3, this time apart has been one of the hardest things I’ve had to do.

Hi Rose, So sorry to hear your daughter is injured. I agree with hooyahsuzy keep writing to her because family support is the best they can receive during this time and throughout their journey in the Navy. Let her know I will keep her in my prayers for healing, strength, and patience and that we all are rooting for her! We are all here for you too Mom take care :)

Hi Rose, I have been where you are and I know that it's not easy. Believe it or not, the biggest thing your recruit will be fighting in RCU is boredom. Write to her as much as you can and keep it as positive as possible. Suggest that she volunteer for a position there (yeoman, etc.) as it will help the time pass more quickly. When she heals back up and is declared FFD (fit for duty) they will probably put her in with a Division that is in roughly the same place in training where she left off. My understanding is that very few get through their journey in the Navy without a few twists and turns. Hang in there! :)

My daughter was set back 2 weeks. I felt like I was going to die. That meant that it would be two more weeks to finally see her... So I totally understand. They feel like they have disappointed you as a parent. Let her know everyone has set backs just of a different degrees. I suggest you send her lots of pictures by sending her color copies where you fit 6-8 pictures per page. Just out of your regular printer. Also, memes and jokes.  My babies have been in the Navy for over a year now and everything is good!

Hang in there, it will too pass...    hugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!
