OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son left for boot camp on 8May2017.  He is in Ship 06 Div 208 and his PIR is scheduled for 30Jun2017.  We are beyond excited for him as he begins his Navy career!  All we have gotten so far is the first, quick call letting us know he is there, his box of belongings and the form letter with his information.  Does anyone know the average time frame for the first phone call home?  I appreciate any info anyone can pass along!

Hello, my son PIR date is also June 30. Hi is also Sh 6/208.  I've read the first phone call home is 2-3 weeks.  I am uncertain, but the call will be coming from the area code 847.

Divisions 207 and 208 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 (BST) together, so look for others with loved ones in either division.

My son left May 9 and am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the form letter. When did you ladies receive the form letter for your children?

@keenansonya2 If you still have not received the form letter your sons recruiter may have his address and graduation information.  My sons recruiter sent me the information last Thursday, just a few days after he left.
