OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Once again, I was so excited when I received the form letter on Saturday and knew what to expect.  Although, I was still sad when there wasn't more to it.  The real positive is that we now have his ship number and graduation date.  We have been busy all day trying to figure out air fare, rental car and hotel.  It's so exciting and frustrating all at the same time.  Do we have any of his shp mates blogging?  I guess we start  the countdown to the call at three weeks and our first real letter.  I must say, the videos online are nice to

Join the group, PIR 08/09/2013 TG 39, to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR. Know that Divisions 295 and 296 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 together, so look for others with loved ones in either division. There will later be a discussion within that group for the two divisions.

You may also want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups as well as in the PIR group. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups, especially Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones).

The first call may be before or after 3 weeks even though they say about 3 weeks in the "I'm here!" phone call, See Phone Cards and Phone Calls for more on that.

What is your SR's rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend.
