Sample Form Letter. Looking for others in same Div or Ship? PIR Groups (listed to 7/19/2013).

THE FORM LETTER:

Within a week after your recruit arrives at Great Lakes, you'll get THE BOX containing his old cloths and other personal items (look for his cell phone in his shoes). Next, you'll get the form letter with four important items.

  1. Your recruit's SHIP # and DIVISION # (Ships which are their barracks are also named, like USS Triton, USS Reuben James. Don't confuse these with the real life actual Navy vessels in service)
Just below that is his address.  USE THIS ADDRESS FOR YOUR LETTERS.
  2. Further down, you'll find his graduation date. This is his PIR (Pass In Review/Boot Camp graduation) date.
  3. Next, you'll see the password needed to download the parking pass
  4. Finally, you'll see the four names (or three if there are many divisions)  your recruit has listed official as his guests. (4 per recruit)

If you are lucky, you'll find a very brief note from your recruit. There is not much room to write, so don't be disappointed.  It's most important that you review the information on the Family Guide from the Recruit Training Command. Print it out and make notes.

Would like to verify..do we have to have a ticket for his brother who is 9?
Comment by BunkerQB on June 4, 2013 at 2:07am

Yes, you need to have a ticket for his brother. The Family Guide indicates, "Children age 2 and younger do not need to be listed on the access list and will not count toward the maximum number of guests."

Always rely on the information given by the RTC. Click on this link Family Guide.

Comment by BunkerQB on June 4, 2013 at 2:13am

Excuse me. There aren't really tickets. His name needs to be on the official GUEST LIST that your recruit submits. Make sure your recruit spells out the guest's name (not Mom, Dad, Brother).

My son has been gone two weeks and I still don't have the letter.  How do you get graduation information, (like the password) if you don't get that letter?  I can't make graduation plans because I don't have that information.  And I can't stating writing.  How do you get that information?
