I wanted to share this article I had just read for those of you who haven’t heard about it yet. My heart goes out to the family & friends and shipmates of the sailor who lost his life. My thoughts & prayers are with you all and thank you for our fallen hero's service to our country. It’s always hard to hear about the loss of one of our military men or women. The article indicated the ship’s location, when they had arrived, and how long their deployment is but I deleted that part. Just following OPSEC rules.

Stennis sailor killed in harbor boat accident

Staff report
Posted : Friday Apr 24, 2009 11:48:52 EDT

A sailor from the carrier John C. Stennis was killed Friday after he was crushed between the massive ship’s hull and a boat from which he was trying to close a drain on the carrier’s side, according to a Navy release.
The sailor, whose name was being withheld until his family was notified, was working from a small harbor boat to secure a drain that discharges oily water from the Stennis’ aircraft catapults. He was crushed when he became lodged between the ship and the boat, according to information provided by 7th Fleet spokesman Cmdr. Jeff Davis.
The sailor, who had sustained a head injury, was treated on the pier by a medical team from the Stennis before he was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Abby, I do understand that but the news was already posted yesterday and I only copied the info from navymomsrock.ning.com. I've also noticed that others have posted it as well in the groups after I posted this one.

TexasDocMom, Yes, it was made public already by the time I had posted it but I was told I should not have posted until the family was notified even though the news was posted in some of the groups before I put mine up. Do you think I was Wrong in doing this? I know I can't please everybody no matter what I try to say or do. .
