Ok So My Son leaves Monday for BootCamp.  We had a Bon Voyage/Bday Party since he will be in BC on his Bday.  First one I am missing in 21 years... Just thought I would share! For the past week I have been having "moments" but I believe as expected.  However what I need to get under control is random people in stores, on the streets etc.  Thanking my son for his service, or thanking me.  Maybe I will get used to it, but boy its embarassing to cry every time someone says something nice...I am obviously working thru this! LOl... and last but not least I have anxiety about his last MEPS. What if something goes wrong? weight? etc... I don't know.  We waited 7 months for this!

Hi Lanie,

I know exactly how you are feeling today is one week that my son left for BC.  Yesterday I rec'd a fedex slip to pick up a package I believe that this will be his belongings.  I have my MOMENTS too....but most of all I am feeling extrememly proud of all of the kids that made this choice.  Just know, that he will be fine and I have been told by a co-worker who is ex-military that where they are right now is a very safe and sanitary place.  Stay Strong!

First of all, hugs to you Lanie.  I totally understand how you feel.  My son leaves this Tuesday and I'm doing pretty good, but when I talk about it to other people, I get choked up pretty bad.  We are having his party in 2 days and I feel mostly pretty good.  I have those "moments" and then I get back to normal again.  I think it will hit me hard once he gets on that plane.  But for now...I'm actually getting EXCITED for him.  Excited about this new path in his life and what lies ahead for him.  I'm a little worried about MEPS too.  I remember how worried I was the first time he went to MEPS.  I'm not as worried this time, but I sure would hate for something to happen at the last minute.  My son has been in DEP for 13 months and we have prepared our hearts for so long for this.
