My husband actually did one this year with our son.  He joined the cruise in NY as they were there for Fleet Week and ended in Virginia.  Our son told us about it two weeks prior to learning that his Dad could join him.  It was very last minute but we got everything together and pulled it off.  It was the best experience my husband has ever had he told me. I hope you have the opportunity.  It is an amazing adventure.

My husband just got back from a tiger cruise 2 weeks ago. He travelled from Honolulu to San Diego. He said it was an amazing experience and so glad he was able to go. We got the info about 2 months before the end of an 8th month deployment. Had to fill out an application and medical form. He had to make his own travel arrangements to the ship. It was well worth it!

These opportunities sound amazing! I still have awhile to go as far as when it would be a option, she has only been on her ship for 3 days :( she was delayed at base because of Typhoons...does anyone know if those "ship to shore" calling cards really work? I don't believe her Japanese or US phones work while they are at sea..
