Before BC I asked my son to leave me a voicemail on my cellphone so that I could hear his voice at times when I really needed too. His message although personal has been an incredible source of strength at nights when I'm longing to go into his room to give him a hug and say goodnight. Part of his message that I would like to share with everyone are the following words:

"Just remember mom, you will be ok and I will be ok. We may not be together physically, but our bond is stronger than anything physical".

I'm sharing those words because they ring true for any mother and child. Our children have a special bond with us like know other. For they are the only ones that have been able to hear our hearts from the inside.

RanesMom- I definitely go through my texts from him with tears too, you are not alone. Once he is able to have his phone back, I plan to ask him for another voicemail, just because. With the technology today I find comfort in thought of perhaps being able to facetime and skype in while in school. I only wish I was part of NavyforMoms before he left so that I could have shared the idea, however I cannot take credit for the idea I actually found it on a website somewhere. Unfortunately I don't remember which is was.

On another note: it seems like the mail takes longer and longer each day, even though is always comes at the same time. :( Thinking of you and sending hugs your way.

I'm sitting here with tears flowing reading your top post again. Thanks for the latest post - it's nice to know thoughts of other moms. Our mail used to come at 9:30 - for some crazy reason - It's now arriving at 1:00 - UGH!! AND, Rane's GF lives 7 houses down and she is the one he is sending everything to. He has lived with her for a little while now. She texted a sad face yesterday when the form letter didn't arrive, but when the box came - we got a big smiling text!!! I toldher I had to put my hands on that box - (crazy, I just want to put my face in his clothes and just breathe)..........I'm fine, though - trying to stay busy - this past Monday I had a birthday, and Tuesday I was a complete mess, so I grabbed my 15 yr old son off the bus and we went for a drive. He is missing his big brother, too! Again, I thank you for the note - I will be thinking of you, too and look forward to Meet & Greet at PIR.

RanesMom~ I still have not received the letter yet either. Happy belated Birthday to you!  I'm glad that you are staying busy, I am also trying to the same. Although today when I was rearranging my furniture I came across a book that my son wrote and had published for me in the 8th grade, the below page broke me down and I wept for nearly 2 hours. But then I remembered my promise to try and stay strong. Try as I might though it doesn't take away the hurt of missing him. I believe with all my heart that once we receive the letter and are able to send our letters to them it will make us feel a lot better. I also realized that I need to stop mentioning not yet getting his letter, because it dawned on me that those moms who have received theirs already have sent their letters and are enroute, so I'm sure it will not be easy for those SR's who have not yet received their letters. Stay strong and be sure to see my link below. Thinking of you and hope to meet you at PIR.

I wanted to share this facebook page with you https://www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand?ref=ts&fref=ts

They have put some pics up of the new recruits and my husband and I both swear we were able to find a glimpse of our son in one. I check everyday for candid shots.
