Hoping your in FL not here in NY and having to dig out of this mess like the rest of us! Yikes it's bad, Think I was a kid when I remember this much snow from one snow storm. If I get around to it soon I will try to upload a picture of it, my one car is covered in a drift, my poor dog couldnt go out until we cleared a path, it was over his head, he jumped in and realized bad choice and came running back in.
I have another question for you, I was planning on driving to PIR in the rental car, should I take the Hotel shuttle? Is there parking? Best time to leave for PIR? I was thinking about 0615, as we are about 3 miles away from the Base.
Thanks for the help, I just sent him his bank card, and told him I am going to add $ so he orders the pictures for me. Knowing him he will not think I need them...typical guy!! LOL
I hope the weather is not too bad in GL as I will be doing the driving from the airport and to the Navy base.
Thanks for helping me so much! I have another question, How soon do they get paid. I know Paul told me the 1st and the 15th, but I have POA on his account and nothing has gone in yet. Is there a delay?
Guess what?? I got a phone call today. It was only 5 min. but it was great to here him!!
hi April,
Wow, so do you have to wait for Joseph to send you mail to get the Address?
I still have not gotten a letter. Just the first form letter. I hope something comes soon.
When we go to PIR how much time do we get with our sailors? Is there time over the weekend to spend with them? Can they stay at the hotel or do they have to go back to base at a certain time?
April, Hi I was wanting to know about my son Nic. He is one of the snare drummers in DIV 907 his PIR date is Jan 8. Will he perform at his own PIR? I was just curious. Thanks and have a great day. Leah
April, I know how difficult it is when our kids are gone during the holidays. I'll be praying for you. I'm grateful that Drew will be home for Christmas this year. At least you know that there are some nice guys on the ship and I will be here for you anytime you need to talk. God bless, Laura.
Any ideas of where to stay in GL? Any place seem better than others? I was lookingat a few hotels that are about 3 to 5 miles away from base. I waiting for a second letter from Paul, I don't where his A school is, I guess he knows where that is. I see a lot of Corpsmen do A school in GL.
Hope your having a great visit and had a great Thanksgiving. Ours was nice, missed Paul, but it was good with the family then I had to work 7pm to 7am anyway so that kept me busy.
April
Hi just wanted to tell you I got my form letter yesterday! I am so happy! I mailed my letters I had waiting for Paul.
How is your visit going? Enjoy yourself and have a great Thanksgiving if I don't talk with you before then.
Hey April.
How are you? I also have 2 boys almost 12 years apart, my oldest is also a deputy sheriff ( Hillsborough County).
My youngest went off to boot camp on October 1st. His PIR is next Wednesday, your photos show an amazing day, I am counting the hours to see him.......LOL
No phone call from Paul at all. I am going to give his recruiter a call today or tomorrow to see what he knows. Enjoy your visit with Joseph, will he be home for Thanksgiving? I think you might have told me but my mind is so rattled right now I don't remember.
Well I saw Paul today again, he stopped over to bring some things to store in the attic. I think that was our last visit until he graduates BC. I don't think I will be going to MEPS to emotional. I will keep you posted.
Thanks for the information. My son is being picked up on the 15th and he will stay at a hotel. Can I still go to MEPS? He told me no, I am thinking he is worried that it will be too emotional. I would love to go and see him sworn in and watch him take off at airport.
Hi April! Just touching base with you to see how Joseph is and I know he is going to Pearl Harbor just didn't know if he is there yet? Kyle is on the other side of our reality right now, I will be soooo glad when the spring gets here (he comes home). Hope your doing well! I see where Joseph will be home Thanksgiving - YEAHHH
Hi April, I was jus tchecking in with you to see how you were doing. I have a funny thing to tell you also. I mentioned to my son that I knew he was getting a new shipmate in sonar and he was quite suprised that I knew! He laughed and wanted to know how I knew because they had just heard the day before! LOL I told him I had my sources and he said I should be in intelligence! :) Anyway, I told him I met you online and that he should make sure the rest of the guys in Sonar were nice to Joseph! I know they will. I'm so glad that he gets to come home for Thanksgiving! Drew will be coming home just after Christmas and he is flying his girlfriend out to Hawaii for Thanksgiving, that will be fun for them. I hope you have a wonderful day, Laura.
Thanks for the welcome. My grandmother, who is now deceased, use to live in Sugarmill Manor. I moved down here to live with my mother so that I can help her with the upkeep on her house and almost acre that she lives on here. My father passed away 3 years ago this weekend and it has been too much for her to do by herself. That is so awesome that your son is done with A school and going to Pearl Harbor for his first station. My son has been in for 2 yrs. His PIR was Oct., 07. He is stationed in Virginia Beach as a K-9 Master-at-Arms. Hope to talk to you again soon.
April
Hi thanks for stopping by, and checking up on me. I can't beleive Paul's time to leave is coming so close. I hope we have all things in order. I am just trying to enjoy my time with him now. We went to a Yankees game 2 weeks ago against the Bo Sox. We use to go all the time when he was young so it was really nice to do that again. Then before he leaves we are off to Atlantic City for some fun.
That is awesome that Joseph will be home for Thanksgiving. Enjoy the time. Are you planning a visit to Hawaii at all? Will that be his perm. place he will be stationed? I will keep you posted on how things are going as histime gets closer.
Hawaii sounds wonderful. And, I think it's a wonderful idea to be there to watch the ship pull into port. It is a very impressive sight. My ex was in the Navy and was stationed aboard a carrier in Mayport. It's a beautiful sight watching it come into sight and seeing the entire deck lined with sailors in their dress uniforms, standing at attention. It gives you the opportunity to search for your sailor as they are docking.
Thanks for the information about finishing A school in the top 3. Not sure if he knows that.
