hi gay, congratulations on your granddaughter. You must be so excited. I'm glad to see Andrew's doing well. Hawaii was Derek's first choice for a while, but then he decided to pick Groton as his first choice. We only live 2 hours away. That way he can stay in Groton with his new friends and get to come home on most weekends to see his girlfriend and friends. Derek's A school graduation is on Dec. 10th. Then on Dec. 18th, my husband, our other son, Derek and myself will fly off to FLA for 5 days. We can't wait. A little family vacation before Derek goes out to sea. Talk to you later.
Hi Gay, It's been a long time. I've had computer troubles, among other problems. How's everything with you. Do you know where Andrew's going to be stationed after school. Derek graduates A school on Dec. 10th. He changed his top pick to Groton. I am so excited, especially since we live in MA. He's confident he'll get his first choice, since he's doing so well in school. Are you going to the Graduation in Dec. I hope so. Talk to you later, Sue
Good morning and Happy July 4th. I just joined the Greeneville group yesterday. My son Nathan is a Nuke EM aboard the Greeneville. We live in Connecticut and were in Groton on Father’s Day when the boat pulled out. I have some pictures but don’t think I should post them publically. You can email me at bulge54@comcast.net and I’ll forward you some pictures. Have a great day.
Gay this will be one of his shorter trips in the whole scheme of things, but anytime we don't talk seems like a long time.
I tell all new sub moms to tell their boys, once they get on a sub, UNTIL THEY GET QUALIFIED to keep their mouths shut, their heads down and earn those fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Study, Study, Study.
I already friended you, you just have to accept. ~A
Gay! Welcome to N4M's !! I have a son on the Greeneville he is under way at the moment but our boys will be serving together! Yay!! we have a Greeneville Group on here and our numbers are finally growing!!
As a side note, I have an uncle who lives in Arvada, how weird is that?! ~A
Hi Gay!! I know it has been a long time!! How r u doing? How is Andrew doing? I have started a group called Good Ol' 3/20/09. The webdress is http://www.navyformoms.com/group/goodol32009. I just started it today, but would love to get in contact with old friends and new friends. Would love to have you join us! Hope to hear from you soon
Hey Gay! Hope you are doing well! Was just wondering if you e-mailed Pam?
Wesley started his A school June 2nd. The class is pretty long he won't be finished until Aug. 13th. He is coming home to visit us for July 4th. Can't wait to see him. Take Care...ttyl
Hey Gay! Just wanted to tell you I e-mailed Pam today. I have her e-mail if you want it just let me know. I sent her the link to the article. Thank you for sharing it! Glad that Andrew is doing well! Wes had his last ATT class tonight. He will find out on Monday when his AS class starts. Should not be too long! He did well in ATT. Made all 80's and 90's on test. YEAH! Take Care...God Bless
hi Gay, It's been a couple of weeks since I've been online. Having problems with my computer. I still do not have my e-mail back. How are you? I hope everything's going well. Are you still planning on going to the BESS graduation. We are. I just hope we get the date soon, so everybody can make plans. I believe it's going to be May 21st instead of the 22nd., because of Memorial Day weekend. I hope it is. It will be easier to get to on Thursday, rather than Friday. Talk to you soon. Sue
Hi Gay, How are you? Haven't talked to you in a while. Derek told me that he knows of Andrew, also. Does Andrew like school? Derek does so far, which is great news. Are you still planning on going to graduation? I hope so. It should be in about 5 weeks or so, I believe. We'll definitely be there. I hope you can make it. Talk to you soon, Sue
Hi there Im Yolanda GILS mom, I just picked our oldest (Jered) from orange county airport after he spent the night sitting in Denver airport to come home from a work conferance. He's been awake 24 hours. fyi...dont fly FRONTIER, he said they were very rude which makes things worse.
Hi Gay, How are you? How's Andrew doing? I haven't heard anything about BESS graduation dates. I'll be seeing Derek this weekend. I'll have to ask him if he knows anything. It sounds like it may be in May. Talk to you later. Bye, Sue
Gay. When is your son supposed to graduate from BESS? My son is set to graduate on May 8. He has his orders, but is trying to cross rate into Sonar at the moment. He has orders for Groton, which would be great and would stay in Groton if gets into Sonar school. He has already been to A school in Meridian Mississippi.
Hi Gay, I just realized that the Andrew that my son is rooming with is not your Andrew. They do look alike. But he is from Div. 133, the same as Derek. And he is from San Diego. He was absolutely freezing on Sat., when it was 62 degrees. Derek thought that was really funny. But being from San Diego, it was cold to him. By the way, how's your arm. What a way to start your weekend. I brought a cell phone to Derek, and of course I called him last night. But he didn't answer it. He did call me back later. They are so independent, now. It's amazing how fast they grew up, isn't it. Talk to you later.
Hi Gay, My husband and I just got back from Groton. It was nice to see Derek again. He seems happy. We went out for lunch. Derek's still sick and so is my husband. Neither one of them felt like walking around Mystic in the cold rain, so we didn't stay too long. Only about 3 hours. Derek has been sick for about a month now. Hopefully he'll get better soon. He still sounds terrible. The flue hit the Sailors really hard. One of Derek's roommates is named Andrew. I think it's your son. They were also roommates in GL. They were hoping to stay together. They're really good friends. There is an airport right in New London. I believe it's called the Groton/New London Airport. It's only about 5 minutes from the base. We drove right by the exit. I never realized there was an airport so close. Andrew's a nice kid, whoever he belongs to. We also met him in GL. He helped Derek carry all his stuff up 14 flights of stairs to their room. I hope they got the X-Box to work. I hope to hear from you soon. Bye.
Hi Gay, I'm glad you heard from your son. I also heard from mine. He seems so much happier in Groton. Thanks for the info. I didn't have a chance to ask many questions. My husband and I are driving to Groton tomorrow for a visit. I can't wait to see him. I know it's only been a week since we've seen him, but it feels much longer. We are also bringing a TV, X'-Box, cell phone, clothes and various other items with us. We'll spend the day in Mystic. It's a beautiful place, even in the rain. Not too many sailors on the plane, huh. I didn't think the number would be that low. It's a tough program. I have heard that less than 1% graduate. But I would never say that to my son. I think they're better off not knowing that info. Talk to you later.
Gay, my son just missed the nuke program also, by one point. He was a little upset at first, especially where his friend made it. But now he is glad. His friend has just changed his mind. He was going on a carrier, but just changed to a sub. So they may be possibly be on the same sub, eventually. The carriers seem so overwhelming. Up to 6000 sailors on board. But yet the sub seems so small and claustrophobic. To each his own. My husband and I will be visiting Derek in a few weeks, if he has some time off. That's too bad that your son didn't get to go to VA. But I think he'll like Groton. I have heard a lot of good things about Groton. From people I know , from people in Chicago and on different websites. I think they will be happy in Groton. The person that worked at the desk at our hotel in Chicago told us our son was very lucky to go to Groton. He said the other sub bases are not nearly as good as Grton. That made us feel good. Talk to you later.
Gay, The nearest airport may be Providence, RI. I'll let you know when I hear from Derek. I hope you do the same. I also forgot to tell you, Derek is in the Sonar Tech program. What is Andrew studying. I am supposed to be doing errands today on my day off. But I'm waiting for Derek to call. I have missed 4 out of 5 calls since Derek left on Jan. 27th. The only call I answered was the, I'm a Sailor call, when we were in Chicago on Thursday. My cell phone doesn"t work very well, so he usually calls our house phone. But I'm never home when he calls. So today I am not leaving the house until he calls. I'll talk to you later.
