Hi, Mindy. I thought I posted yesterdat about churches in GP, but I don' t see it today. Anyway, I spoke with my brother today. He is a retired Seabee chief, living in GP. He also works on the base now in civil service. First Baptist of Biloxi can be seen from I-10. It is a big church, but has a reputation for reaching out to the community there. First Bapt. GP received a lot of damage to their building and he is not sure where they are meeting. 1st Bapt.Long beach is meeting next to the base now. My brother is Baptist, but his wife and daughters are Catholic. He has attended Biloxi 1st and also the protestant services on base. I am sure he would be able to assist your son if he needs anything.
My brother is a retired seabee in Gulfport-his wife and children attend a Catholic church there, but being a Baptist family, he has attended First baptist there and so has my Mom when she visited out there. that is all I know about the churches there. Our son is PIR 7/31 this year and will be going to Port Hueneme for A school the following week-he is CM. We will have to keep in touch-this is all pretty new to me!
HOLY Smoke you have a depper also ~~ wow !! And sailor went from Snipe to Seebee ? Is he is Texas training ? WOW Good to see you again darling !! Glad you are back !
later on when he starts to like bootcamp
here are some ideas from the site members
1)Write a letter on toilet paper - tell him that you want to "crack" him up- this is boy humor (use a good pen - it rips easily)
2)Print out family pictures on regular paper, and write a story to match the pictures. My story was about Captain Stinkfinger.
3)Go online and print out jokes - especially ones about the Navy or military.
4) Clip articles from the local paper, or comic strips
5) All those e-mail jokes you get a work - send them
6) Send him a "Congratulations on your new home" card. I thought that one was halarious.
7) Humorous cards. This can be $$$$ but I have found some funny cards
8) Origami if you know how to do it. I can make paper airplanes.
9) Little books - I found a book about 2inches X 2 inches. Cody had to open it in front of his DIV and read two pages. The title of the book was The History of Farts. It was a gas LOL.
Hey Kiddo, how are you doing today? Start picking up thinking of you cards at the dollar store. Clip articles from the paper, or sports scores, that you think he (or his new fellow recruits) mite like. Pages of a Suduko puzzels or word finds can be fun, and a neat thing to share with fellow recruits.
HUGS THIS MORNING TO MY NEWEST RECRUIT MOM !!
ok we are here for you ~~ get to writing letters even if you dont have his address right now !1 Dont forget to encourage him, and keep him connected to the outside world as much as possible . Tell him about his sports teams ~~ you know whatever interested him !!
Again Giant Hugs to you my friend
I haven't needed to cry since he left, but did get teary a few times leading up to it. He was so ready to go, and excited about it, that I only feel pride right now. I need to start writing my first letter!!!
sorry, looks like i should have been alittle nosey first. lol He left for BC today. You will get a lot of support here. wished i wouldn't have found this last year when mine was in.
I really didn't think their were that many Aarons. Glad to hear from you and looking forward to chatting. O cool and that are both snipers? Is he still in boot camp or at A school?
Yeah Recruiters tell ya that ~~ No honey everyone has a different experiance, and different advice. I have just always felt to not TRY to stand out works the best ~ the RDC's will see the shiny ones !! they are good at what they do :) You can stand out just by doing what is asked of you ~ if you happen to be the one asking *what can I do* you put a target on yourself. See where I am coming from ?
BC is a different beast then school or fleet ~~~ BC is best to blend in and get noticed by doing exactly what your told with no complaints !!
its the good ole keep your eyes and ears open and your mouth closed :)
Hugs and more Hugs for Goddbyes today
Hi Mindy, I grew up in Mountain Home. Now live in southern IL. My son will graduate from bc 11-14. Where is your son in the process? I would love to talk to you.
I'm sure he know. But you can tell him anyhow. I tell my boy that all the time. Yes, he will be in the eng. room of the ship but he will see a lot of the great outdoors. Just tell him to start thinking of a place where he wants to be stationed. After BC and A-school they will get 3 pick. There is a lot to choose from. Eric was in Jacksonville FLA, Matt likes San Diego CA, John is thinking about FLA. Just to give you something else to think about. Not that you don't have enough. :)
Enjoy your time with him now. You will really miss him when he is gone. Start writing the day he leaves so when you get his address you can send them out all together, date your letters. It will be a few weeks before he gets his mail so its important to date them, for him. Engineer is good, Two of my son's are EM, Well John will be, he will not leave for BC until March. Matt is the only one thats top deck. He is ST (sonar tech)
Make the next 20 some day count. They will go by fast.
Yes they do look good together, They eloped in Chicago in May. He was only a few weeks out of Boot Camp. Crazy kids. Now he is on the west coast and she is on the east coast.
They changed the floor mate on the site and I found so many friend request. You were one of them. I wasn't ignorning you, I wasn't aware. So with that said. HI ! nice to meet you. : )
I don't think so. They determined he was eating protein bars. My pastor said that on the protein bars he eats it states on there that it can alter urine and athletic physicals. So it apparantly had something to do with that. He went to his Doctor here yesterday and everything was fine. The recruiter is coming back here today and I know Justin is meeting with him. They will probably set a date for him to go back to OKC. I know that when your creatine level is high they need to look at kidney problems and they were checking him for diabetis but he hasn't ever had a problem in the past. His Doctor yesterday said he was good to go.
We don't know yet. He had a high creatine level and protein showing up in his urine test so he has to go back to finish that part of his physical. Once that is complete we'll know what job he will have. He was looking at becoming a seal. But he has thrown around minesman? I am not sure it that is what it is called or not. He really is just open and anxious to see what opportunities there are out there. What score do you have to have on your ASVAB to be a seal?
