I still cannot believe you WALKED back to your hotel room... I consider myself pretty brave... but you have me beat!!! I tried to tell my James on Thursday - "give N***** my number to give to his mom"... and we all know how well that worked out!!! (oops, almost used his last name LOL)
Hope you had a safe trip back last night - we made pretty good time back home, but of course hit the rain storms in Jacksonville, when we only had 30 minutes to go!
It was great to meet you - hopefully at the next graduation we'll get to spend more time together. Enjoy James' visit home.
Dear James mom,
How are you tonight? So far, the summer has had a cool, breeze.Watch, August's heat will come in like a tidal wave! HAHAH!
I pray I'm so wrong! HAH!
Kim's having fun, but she's not crazy for her job. Can't blame her, it is boring, just watching the radar screen. WHen she makes her two years, she plans to request for new training in A School.
Your so right, but girls kicking butt. I told her that, your up against these guys. A Sailor is a Sailor, ther's no male/female jobs! HAHA!
I wish James all the best. Good for him!
Next week, hopefully, I have a hearing aide appointment. I'm being evaluated for this surgery called the Cochlear Implant. I've been doing research on it. I joined a website for deaf members who have had the surgery.
I was joking with my girlfriend, next Wednesday I should have a cake. It'll be two years that I have Meniere's Disease! HAHA! Have to laugh at it, what can I do. ! HAHA!
Let me run. My beloved husband is home, time to cook.
Take care and God bless,
Barbara
I see you live in Queens - my husband was born in Kew Gardens, but I don't think he lived there for more than a few months. We are from Norwalk CT originally, and have been living in Florida for almost 4 years now.
Hi Dawn - nice to meet you - I've been wondering where all of the division 919 moms were... we will be arriving early tomorrow afternoon (Thursday), and leaving as soon as he can get his stuff together...
We're staying at the Econo Lodge, James booked it for me too - I just know that it's close by, I haven't been to GC yet. Looking forward to seeing you!
Deart Dawn Rose,
How have you bee? It has been ages! Congratulations on James greaduating A School!
What did he train for?
I wish him all the best! That is wonderful that you'll have the weekend with him!! Enjoy your time with him!!
Kim's ship finally pulled out for 5 day test run cruises. Thank God...... in the first cruise, 4 fires broke out. Than God they weren't out to sea!
I like the way Kim said, "We know how to put out fires!" Well, good I'm glad to hear that, but there shouldn't have been any fires to put out!! HAAH!
Not much else happening. Right now, I'm being evaluated to see if I qualify for this hearing device called the cochlear implant. I'm done research on it. Then I joined another website called Cochlear Community, were the members are all deaf and have had the surgery.
Please keep me in prayer that I qualify. It would be nice to be able to hear again. Then I'll start socializning again! HAHA!
Let me get going. Again, I wish James all the best!
Take care and God bless,
Barbara
Congratulations!! Daniel did graduate also on Jan. 9th and is now in San Antonio at MA School, again to graduate on March 13th and then going to Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Maryland for two years. I'm happy for those orders. How long does James have for his schooling? Isn't that a year or so? Well, best of luck and talk to you soon, Chris
Dear James's mom,
I missed the get together. I felt so bad. WHile I was getting ready to leave, my stomach turned to knots I wrote to a few of the moms that I have already met, from parades, and apologized.
I was up all night with my old sick dog, everything was coming out from both ends with her. She hasn't been well over two months. She was off and on with diareahea. I mixed white rice with all her feedings, as well as anti-diarehea pills.
Then her hind legs, weren't holding her up. I had her put down on Monday. I was heartbroken over this, but I know it was time. She was my baby girl for almost 10 years.
Now there's a puppy for me to care for...lucky me!! UGH!! He's here though two weeks today. He's adorable, but a handfull!!
I told my older daughter I don't need a puppy to take care of. Since I developed Meniere's Disease, cleaning up the puppy's mess, housebreaking him and chasing him when he has something in his mouth, is quite hard for me with my vertigo. I love the little guy, he is a good boy, but it's like taking care of a two year old!! I have another old dog, 10 years old, I know he doesn't appreciate a puppy nipping at his face!! HAHA!
Otherwise, all is well!! HAHA!!
How are you doing? Almost ready for Christmas?
I didn't even start. I told everyone, they might just get money. I have to depend on my daughter driving me now, and that didn't happen!! UGH!
Let me get going. Please don't be a stranger!
Take care and God bless.
Barbara
Dear James's mom,
Yours is the pest, mine is the "gray hair"!! HHA!! My baby boy is now 18 years old. Oh what he didn't do to me!! UGH!!
I just made my appointment with "Access a Ride" for Saturday. It'll take me three bus's to get to Arte's Cafe. Then I remembered I can use tha "Access a Ride", I haven't used it yet!! HAA!!
I hope the weather holds up, I'm tired of this rain.
I've been housebreaking a puppy, and I stand out there in the yard, all weather and temperatures! UGH!! This is my older daughter's pup. I told her, he's mine now. Other than playing with him, she's never home to care for him. I also have two 10 year old dogs, oh, they're thrill having a hyper puppy nipping at their faces!! HAHA!!
Let me get going. I hope to hear from you again. Remember I'm hard of hearing, I don't want people thinking I'm rude!! HAah!!
Dear James' mom,
How are you? My name is Barbara. I just noticed your joining us on Dec 13 in NY.
I know some of the moms, so I figure I'll introduce myself to you.
I am easy to spot, I walk with a cane. I tell everyone, I am hard of hearing, I don't want people to think I'm rude!! HAHA!!

Thank you for your support. I joined the group knit for the navy and we are making blankets to send to a ship. You could join the group and if you don't knit you can help someone that does supplying the yarn for it.
The group coordinator will match you up with someone needing supplies.
Navy for moms is a wonderful site that helps in many ways, today you might be giving to someones son, tomorrow someone may be giving your son. Thank you.
Did I mention that the Great Lakes was the coldest weather i have ever felt & I live in Boston & it grts pretty cold here. Dress warm & wear comfy shoes, it's a lot of walking on the base
You're very welcome & did I mention the Ramada is only about 10 minutes from the base? We rented a car at the Airport & we found that we really needed a car to bring my daughter back & forth from the base for liberty. You can drive on base as long as you have the boarding pass that is sent with the Grad pack about 1 month before the PIR. The Ramada also has a dscount for Navy familes - be sure not to go to the smoking section - I'm a smoker & that section of the hallway was musty so I always sprayed the hallway with fabreeze, lol ~ Have a wonderful weekend
Thank you for your comments to my page! James would not have known what div. he will be in before he left. If you know which recruit office he went through they can give you that info, regarding address and div #. My son did go in on a SEAL contract and we know how extremely challenging this will be. I have learned SO much from this site. I was addicted to it for the first week and still, every chance I get, I'm checking out all of the forums and discussions and everyday I learn more. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions or if you need to vent or cry,,, we're all here for you!
Hi; my daughter had PIR 11-7-08 & I stayed at the ramada in Waukeegan- it was old but very clean; the staff was wonderful & the food was exceptional-we ate most of our meals there-they offer a shuttle to the PIR but we took a car it was less of a walk for me-they have a great pool & jacuzzi.. if your sailor lets the base know about the pool; they can bring a bath suit but it has to be from the navy. You'll find all of that out. As far as getting the address, my daughter's recruiter called me to give me the address. If there are any question I can answer for you let me know. Joanne
I live towards the eastern end of Suffolk County. Great Neck is a distance away. I did talk to some other LI moms and hopefully one of these days we can all get together on LI. One lives in Ridge (that is by me) another in Ronkonkoma, which isn't too far from me, and another lives in Nassau County, she will be in NYC on the 13th, her name is Toni. Maybe after the holidays we can plan a LI meet in or around the Babylon area, that seems to be midway and I know a lot about the area as I grew up there.
